Abstract

Program Magang Industri merupakan salah satu bentuk implementasi pembelajaran yang bertujuan memberikan pengalaman kerja nyata sekaligus meningkatkan kompetensi mahasiswa melalui penerapan ilmu yang diperoleh selama perkuliahan. Kegiatan magang ini dilaksanakan di PT PLN (Persero) Pusat Pemeliharaan Ketenagalistrikan (PUSHARLIS) Unit Pelaksana Produksi dan Workshop (UP2W) VI Surabaya. Selama pelaksanaan magang, mahasiswa ditempatkan pada beberapa bidang kerja, yaitu perencanaan, mekanikal, quality control, dan keselamatan serta kesehatan kerja (K3). Tugas khusus yang dilakukan berfokus pada analisis ketidakefektifan sistem exhaust hood dalam menghisap asap pada proses hardfacing grinding roll. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan metode Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) dengan pendekatan Diagram Fishbone (Ishikawa) berdasarkan data hasil observasi lapangan, pengukuran dimensi exhaust hood, posisi pemasangan, arah aliran asap, serta parameter operasional sistem ventilasi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa ketidakefektifan sistem terutama disebabkan oleh desain exhaust hood yang kurang optimal, meliputi bentuk hood, posisi pemasangan yang kurang sesuai terhadap sumber asap, dimensi bukaan hisap, serta belum adanya komponen pendukung yang mampu meningkatkan kecepatan aliran udara menuju saluran hisap. Berdasarkan hasil identifikasi akar penyebab tersebut, disusun rekomendasi perbaikan berupa optimasi bentuk dan posisi exhaust hood, penyesuaian dimensi sesuai karakteristik sumber emisi, penambahan pipa venturi untuk meningkatkan efektivitas penangkapan asap, serta usulan desain baru yang mengacu pada standar efektivitas sistem ventilasi industri. Rekomendasi tersebut diharapkan mampu meningkatkan kinerja sistem exhaust dalam mengendalikan paparan asap sehingga mendukung terciptanya lingkungan kerja yang lebih aman, sehat, dan sesuai dengan prinsip keselamatan kerja di PT PLN (Persero) PUSHARLIS UP2W VI Surabaya.

The Industrial Internship Program is designed to provide students with practical work experience while enabling them to apply the knowledge acquired during their academic studies. This internship was conducted at PT PLN (Persero) Electricity Maintenance Center (PUSHARLIS), Production and Workshop Unit (UP2W) VI Surabaya. During the internship, the student was assigned to several divisions, including planning, mechanical engineering, quality control, and occupational health and safety (OHS). The primary project focused on analyzing the ineffectiveness of the exhaust hood system in capturing welding fumes generated during the hardfacing grinding roll process. The analysis was carried out using the Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) method combined with the Fishbone (Ishikawa) Diagram approach. Data were collected through field observations, dimensional measurements of the exhaust hood, evaluation of hood positioning, smoke flow observations, and operational parameter assessments of the ventilation system. The results indicated that the ineffective performance of the exhaust hood was mainly caused by suboptimal hood design, including inappropriate hood geometry, improper installation position relative to the fume source, inadequate hood dimensions, and the absence of supporting components to improve airflow velocity toward the exhaust system. Based on the identified root causes, several improvement recommendations were proposed, including optimization of the hood geometry and installation position, adjustment of hood dimensions according to the emission source characteristics, installation of a venturi pipe to enhance smoke capture efficiency, and the development of an improved exhaust hood design in accordance with industrial ventilation standards. These recommendations are expected to improve the effectiveness of the exhaust system in controlling welding fumes and contribute to a safer and healthier working environment at PT PLN (Persero) PUSHARLIS UP2W VI Surabaya.
