Abstract

Prospect "X", located on the southern coast of Banyuwangi, East Java, within the Eastern Sunda Arc, shows indications of two telescoped Cu-Au mineralization systems: a high-sulfidation epithermal (HSE) system at shallow level overlying a deeper porphyry system, yet the subsurface distribution of these mineralized zones remained poorly mapped. This study aimed to identify resistivity and chargeability anomaly characteristics and to correlate 3D modeling results with drillhole data to determine the Cu-Au prospect zone. Resistivity and Time-Domain Induced Polarization (TDIP) methods with a pole-dipole configuration were applied along three 2,400 m lines with 100 m electrode spacing, processed through robust (L1-norm) inversion in Res2DInv and modeled in 3D using spheroidal interpolation in Leapfrog Geo, then validated against drillholes Epsilon-003 and Epsilon-005. Three zones were identified: a massive silica zone with very high resistivity (>422 Ωm) and low chargeability (<17 msec) related to phreatomagmatic breccia with silica-clay alteration; a transition zone with moderate resistivity (75–422 Ωm) hosted in Volcanic Dacite and Young Tonalite; and a Cu-Au prospect zone with high chargeability (>35 msec) and low-to-moderate resistivity (<237 Ωm), confirmed by drill data as enargite–chalcocite–pyrite mineralization, with chalcopyrite (522–552 m) and bornite (502–537 m) appearing at the deepest intervals marking a transition into the porphyry potassic zone. Three-dimensional isosurface analysis delineated the main prospect zone in the western study area, between Lines 1 and 2, with its eastern boundary controlled by the Lampon-Salakan Fault.
