Abstract

Analisis efisiensi boiler merupakan aspek penting dalam menjaga keandalan sistem pembangkit uap, meningkatkan efisiensi energi, serta mendukung keberlangsungan proses produksi pada industri pakan ternak. Kualitas air umpan menjadi salah satu faktor yang memengaruhi kinerja boiler karena berpengaruh terhadap proses perpindahan panas, frekuensi blowdown, dan potensi pembentukan kerak. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh penggunaan air Prigen dan air sungai terhadap efisiensi boiler serta mengidentifikasi potensi kegagalan komponen menggunakan metode Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) di PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk Unit Buduran. Analisis efisiensi dilakukan menggunakan metode langsung dan tidak langsung berdasarkan data operasional boiler yang meliputi karakteristik air umpan, konsumsi bahan bakar, produksi uap, gas buang, dan blowdown. Selanjutnya dilakukan identifikasi potensi kegagalan komponen boiler menggunakan metode FMEA berdasarkan parameter Severity, Occurrence, dan Detection untuk memperoleh nilai Risk Priority Number (RPN). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan air Prigen menghasilkan efisiensi boiler sebesar 80,80%, lebih tinggi dibandingkan penggunaan air sungai sebesar 77,89%. Selain itu, penggunaan air Prigen memberikan performa operasi yang lebih baik karena mampu mengurangi kebutuhan blowdown dan meningkatkan efektivitas proses perpindahan panas. Analisis FMEA menunjukkan bahwa komponen burner, pompa air umpan, dan pipa economizer memiliki nilai RPN tertinggi sehingga memerlukan prioritas perawatan melalui inspeksi berkala, preventive maintenance, serta pemantauan kualitas air secara rutin. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa pemilihan kualitas air umpan yang baik, disertai penerapan metode FMEA, mampu meningkatkan efisiensi boiler, mengurangi potensi kegagalan komponen, serta mendukung keandalan sistem pembangkit uap pada industri pakan ternak.

Boiler efficiency analysis is essential for maintaining steam generation reliability, improving energy efficiency, and supporting sustainable production processes in the feed manufacturing industry. Feedwater quality is one of the key factors affecting boiler performance because it influences heat transfer, blowdown frequency, and scale formation. This study aims to analyze the effect of using Prigen water and river water as boiler feedwater on boiler efficiency and to identify potential component failures using the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) method at PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk, Buduran Unit. Boiler efficiency was evaluated using both direct and indirect methods based on operational data, including feedwater characteristics, fuel consumption, steam production, flue gas conditions, and blowdown rate. Potential boiler component failures were then analyzed using the FMEA approach by evaluating the Severity, Occurrence, and Detection parameters to determine the Risk Priority Number (RPN). The results show that the use of Prigen water achieved a boiler efficiency of 80.80%, which is higher than the 77.89% obtained using river water. Furthermore, Prigen water provided better operational performance by reducing blowdown requirements and improving heat transfer effectiveness. The FMEA analysis identified the burner, feedwater pump, and economizer pipe as the components with the highest RPN values, indicating the need for priority maintenance through periodic inspections, preventive maintenance, and continuous monitoring of feedwater quality. The findings demonstrate that selecting high-quality feedwater combined with the implementation of the FMEA method can improve boiler efficiency, minimize potential component failures, and enhance the reliability of industrial steam generation systems.
