Abstract

Sistem distribusi steam merupakan utilitas penting dalam proses produksi mi instan di PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk. Ketersediaan steam dengan tekanan yang stabil sangat berpengaruh terhadap efektivitas proses pemasakan, kualitas produk, dan efisiensi energi. Selama pelaksanaan magang ditemukan permasalahan berupa penurunan tekanan (pressure drop) pada sistem perpipaan steam, di mana tekanan distribusi mengalami penurunan dari kondisi normal 7,5–8 bar menjadi 5–6 bar. Kondisi tersebut menyebabkan pasokan steam ke titik penggunaan tidak optimal sehingga berpotensi menurunkan performa peralatan produksi, meningkatkan konsumsi bahan bakar boiler, serta memperpanjang waktu proses produksi. Analisis dilakukan melalui observasi lapangan, pengumpulan data operasional, studi literatur, dan identifikasi akar penyebab menggunakan pendekatan 5W+1H. Selanjutnya dilakukan perhitungan parameter aliran, meliputi kecepatan aliran, bilangan Reynolds, faktor friksi, dan kehilangan tekanan untuk mengetahui penyebab utama terjadinya pressure drop. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa penurunan tekanan dipengaruhi oleh panjang jalur perpipaan, banyaknya fitting, gesekan fluida dengan dinding pipa, peningkatan beban penggunaan steam, potensi kebocoran, serta terbentuknya kerak pada permukaan pipa yang meningkatkan hambatan aliran. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, direkomendasikan optimalisasi desain jaringan perpipaan, inspeksi dan perbaikan kebocoran, pembersihan kerak, serta penerapan preventive maintenance pada valve dan steam trap untuk menjaga kestabilan tekanan steam. Implementasi rekomendasi ini diharapkan mampu meningkatkan efisiensi distribusi steam, mengurangi kehilangan energi, menjaga kualitas produk, serta meningkatkan keandalan dan kontinuitas proses produksi di PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk.

The steam distribution system is a crucial utility in the instant noodle production process at PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk. The availability of steam with stable pressure significantly impacts the effectiveness of the cooking process, product quality, and energy efficiency. During the internship, a pressure drop was observed in the steam piping system, where the distribution pressure decreased from the normal 7.5–8 bar to 5–6 bar. This condition resulted in suboptimal steam supply to the point of use, potentially reducing production equipment performance, increasing boiler fuel consumption, and extending production process time. The analysis was conducted through field observations, operational data collection, literature studies, and root cause identification using the 5W+1H approach. Furthermore, flow parameters were calculated, including flow velocity, Reynolds number, friction factor, and pressure loss to determine the main cause of the pressure drop. The analysis results showed that the pressure drop was influenced by the length of the piping line, the number of fittings, the appearance of fluid with the pipe wall, increased steam usage load, potential leaks, and the formation of scale on the pipe surface that increased flow resistance. Based on these results, it is recommended to optimize the piping network design, inspect and repair leaks, descale, and implement preventive maintenance on valves and steam traps to maintain stable steam pressure. Implementing these recommendations is expected to improve steam distribution efficiency, reduce energy losses, maintain product quality, and enhance production process continuity at PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk.
