Abstract

Hydrocarbon exploration in the Central Sulawesi Basin, especially in the carbonate reservoir of the Minahaki Formation, requires a comprehensive reservoir characterization due to porosity heterogeneity influenced by the diagenesis process. This study aims to identify the distribution of Acoustic Impedance (AI) and porosity, evaluate the relationship between AI and porosity using multi-attribute methods, and determine the optimal drilling zone. The data used are in the form of post-stack 3D seismic data and well logs from WELL-3, WELL-6, WELL-14, and WELL-15. The methods applied include the interpretation of Acoustic Impedance (AI) seismic inversion , AI sensitivity and porosity analysis, and multi-attribute analysis. The inversion results showed a relatively low AI value of around 20,000–21,000 ((m/s)(g/cc)) which was interpreted as a porous reservoir zone. Sensitivity analysis showed a strong negative relationship between AI and porosity with a correlation value of more than 0.75. Multi-attribute prediction produced a porosity model with a cross-correlation of 0.858829 and the lowest validation error of 0.070314, as well as a water saturation model with a cross-correlation of 0.872. The predicted results showed a zone of high porosity (25%–30%) associated with a low Sw value (<0.40) concentrated in the center of the study area, indicating a reservoir that was predominantly filled with gaseous hydrocarbons, while a high Sw value (>0.70) at the edge indicated a water-saturated zone. The integration of Sweetness, RMS Amplitude, AI, porosity maps, and Sw distribution attributes shows that the main prospect zone is in the middle of the research area, particularly at high altitudes.
