Abstract
Salah satu pencemaran lingkungan di perairan yaitu limbah domestik
termasuk yang berasal dari limbah laundry. Limbah laundry langsung disalurkan
ke saluran drainase yang akhirnya akan mengalir ke badan air. Salah satu upaya
yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengolah limbah laundry yaitu metode
phytotreatment menggunakan tanaman Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.).
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan nilai penyisihan BOD, COD dan
fosfat pada limbah laundry dengan menggunakan tanaman Kenaf; dan
mendapatkan respon pertumbuhan Kenaf terhadap paparan limbah laundry.
Penelitian utama dilakukan selama 28 hari. Variabel yang diujikan yaitu
variasi konsentrasi limbah laundry, varietas tanaman Kenaf KR 12 dan KR 15,
dan umur tanaman kenaf 30 hari dan 45 hari. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan
bahwa tanaman Kenaf memiliki kemampuan dalam penyisihan BOD, COD, dan
fosfat. Efisiensi penyisihan tertinggi terjadi di tanaman Kenaf KR15 umur 45 pada
paparan limbah laundry konsentrasi rendah yaitu sebesar 69,94% penyisihan
BOD, 71,22% penyisihan COD, dan 63,26% penyisihan fosfat. Tanaman Kenaf
tetap mengalami peningkatan pertumbuhan selama paparan limbah laundry. ========== One of the environment polluters in the waters is domestic waste including
laundry waste. Almost all laundry business services has no sewage treatment
plant. Laundry waste discharged into the sewers and river. A choosen treatment
that can be done to treat laundry waste is phytotreatment using Kenaf (Hibiscus
cannabinus L.). This study aimed to get the removal value of BOD, COD,
phosphate in laundry waste using kenaf and get kenaf growth response. The main
study was conducted during 28 days. The research variables were laundry waste
concentration level (high concentration and low concentration), variety of Kenaf
(Kenaf KR 12 and KR 15), and age of Kenaf (30 days and 45 days). Result
showed Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.) had capability to remove BOD, COD,
and phosphate of laundry waste while increasing its biomass. The most efficient
for laundry waste treatment is Kenaf KR15 age of 45 days exposured low concentration laundry waste with
