Abstract

Kegiatan magang dilaksanakan di PT Petrokimia Gresik, Departemen Produksi IIA, sebagai implementasi pembelajaran teknik kimia dalam industri pupuk. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memahami proses produksi pupuk NPK Phonska Subsidi, penerapan sistem keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja (K3L), serta pengelolaan limbah industri. Selain mempelajari tahapan proses produksi melalui Process Flow Diagram (PFD) dan Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID), dilakukan analisis troubleshooting terhadap optimasi distribusi asam fosfat (H₃PO₄) pada unit pre-neutralizer dan pre-scrubber untuk menurunkan ammonia losses pada proses produksi NPK Phonska Subsidi hingga efisiensi meningkat 21,36%. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan data operasi pabrik, penyusunan neraca massa dan neraca energi, serta simulasi proses dengan perangkat lunak Aspen Plus untuk mengevaluasi kondisi operasi dan mengidentifikasi alternatif perbaikan proses. Melalui kegiatan magang ini, mahasiswa memperoleh pemahaman mengenai integrasi aspek proses, analisis teknik, keselamatan kerja, dan pengelolaan lingkungan dalam operasi industri pupuk serta meningkatkan kompetensi dalam penerapan ilmu teknik kimia di dunia industri

The internship was conducted at PT Petrokimia Gresik, Production Department IIA, to enhance the application of chemical engineering principles in the fertilizer industry. The internship aimed to develop an understanding of the subsidized NPK Phonska fertilizer production process, occupational health and safety (OHS) practices, and industrial waste management. In addition to studying the production process through Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), a troubleshooting analysis was carried out on the optimization of phosphoric acid (H₃PO₄) distribution between the pre-neutralizer and pre-scrubber units to reduce ammonia losses in the subsidized NPK Phonska production process until increased eficciency 21,36%. The analysis was conducted using plant operating data, mass and energy balance calculations, and process simulation with Aspen Plus to evaluate operating conditions and identify potential process improvement alternatives. This internship provided practical experience in integrating process engineering, technical analysis, occupational safety, and environmental management while strengthening the application of chemical engineering knowledge in industrial fertilizer production.
