Abstract
Sedimentasi yang terjadi secara berulang di Kolam Citra Pelabuhan Belawan menyebabkan penurunan kedalaman operasional kolam dan meningkatkan kebutuhan pengerukan pemeliharaan secara berkala. Kondisi ini dipengaruhi oleh karakteristik estuari Pelabuhan Belawan yang menerima suplai sedimen dari Sungai Belawan dan Sungai Deli, serta adanya area kolam semi-tertutup yang memiliki energi arus relatif rendah sehingga mempercepat proses deposisi sedimen halus. Penelitian terdahulu di Pelabuhan Belawan umumnya berfokus pada analisis volume pengerukan dan kondisi batimetri eksisting tanpa mengevaluasi efektivitas metode pengendalian sedimentasi berbasis modifikasi hidrodinamika. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis efektivitas metode submerged water jet dalam mengurangi laju sedimentasi di Kolam Citra Pelabuhan Belawan melalui pendekatan pemodelan numerik hidrodinamika dan transport sedimen menggunakan perangkat lunak Delft3D. Penelitian dilakukan dengan membangun model hidrodinamika dua dimensi (depth-averaged) berdasarkan data batimetri, pasang surut, arus, karakteristik sedimen, serta data gelombang di wilayah penelitian. Model kemudian divalidasi menggunakan data pasang surut dan arus lapangan untuk memastikan kesesuaian hasil simulasi terhadap kondisi aktual. Simulasi dilakukan pada kondisi eksisting tanpa intervensi serta pada beberapa skenario penerapan sistem water jet dengan variasi debit aliran. Analisis dilakukan terhadap distribusi pola arus, tegangan geser dasar, distribusi sedimen tersuspensi, laju sedimentasi, dan perubahan elevasi dasar perairan. Hasil penelitian diharapkan dapat menunjukkan pengaruh penerapan sistem water jet terhadap perubahan pola arus dan redistribusi sedimen pada kolam pelabuhan. Selain itu, penelitian ini diharapkan mampu mengidentifikasi skenario debit water jet yang paling efektif dalam menurunkan laju sedimentasi dan menjaga kestabilan kedalaman operasional kolam. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar teknis dalam pengembangan strategi pengendalian sedimentasi yang lebih efisien dan berkelanjutan pada kawasan Pelabuhan Belawan.

Recurring sedimentation in the Citra Basin of Belawan Port has led to a reduction in operational depth and increased the demand for periodic maintenance dredging. This condition is influenced by the estuarine characteristics of Belawan Port, which continuously receives sediment supply from the Belawan and Deli Rivers, as well as the semi-enclosed basin configuration that possesses relatively low current energy, thereby accelerating the deposition of fine sediments. Previous studies in Belawan Port have generally focused on dredging volume estimation and existing bathymetric conditions without evaluating the effectiveness of hydrodynamic-based sedimentation control methods. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the submerged water jet method in mitigating sedimentation within the Citra Basin of Belawan Port through a numerical hydrodynamic and sediment transport modeling approach using Delft3D software. The research was conducted by developing a two-dimensional depth-averaged hydrodynamic model based on bathymetric, tidal, current, sediment characteristic, and wave data obtained from the study area. The model was subsequently validated using field tidal and current data to ensure the reliability of the simulation results against actual conditions. Simulations were performed under existing conditions without intervention and under several water jet implementation scenarios with varying discharge values. The analysis focused on current distribution patterns, bed shear stress, suspended sediment distribution, sedimentation rates, and seabed elevation changes. The results of this study are expected to demonstrate the influence of the water jet system on current pattern modification and sediment redistribution within the port basin. Furthermore, the study is expected to identify the most effective water jet discharge scenario in reducing sedimentation rates and maintaining the operational depth stability of the basin. The findings are also expected to provide a technical basis for developing more efficient and sustainable sedimentation control strategies in the Belawan Port area.
