Abstract

Minyak daun sirih merupakan salah satu dari beberapa jenis minyak atsiri. Dari beberapa literatur didapatkan, minyak daun sirih banyak digunakan sebagai antiseptik, obat-obatan dalam industry farmasi dan kosmetik. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan 3 proses yaitu tahap awal, tahap penyulingan yang meliputi tahap percobaan destilasi, tahap analisa minyak daun sirih (analisa kadar air dalam minyak, analisa densitas minyak, angka asam, bilangan penyabunan dan bilangan ester, viscositas, indeks bias) dan tahap penyelesaian yaitu tahap pembuatan pasta gigi cair. Dari penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pada proses distilasi 5 kg daun sirih kering jumlah minyak sirih yang diperoleh yaitu 75 ml; kadar minyak sebesar 1,5 %, densitas sebesar 0,9898 gr/ml (pada 1 atm, 20^C), angka asam sebesar 12,82, minyak atsiri daun sirih memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri S.mutans; pasta gigi yang mengandung minyak atsiri daun sirih yang paling ampuh menghambat zona bakteri S.mutans adalah pasta gigi yang mengandung minyak atsiri sebanyak 0,5%.

Piper betle lynn oil is one of the some oil atsiri type. This oil a lot of used as anticeptic, medicine in pharmacy and cosmetic industry. On this experiment conducted by 3 process that is process early, process of distillation and process pasca distillation. Process early put the piper betle leaves to the sun and the wind-aerating calm in place. Process distillation used steam distillation and after that pasca distillation is dissociate the oil and water. And then analyze the phycisal properties of piper betle leaves oil. The last process is making the toothpaste. Conclusion from this attempt is Piper betle lynn leaves oil with steam distillationof 5 kgpiper betle lynn leaves most got that 75 ml; Piper betle leaves oil yielded own : oil 1.5 %, densitas: 0,9898 gr/ml (at 1 atm, 20^C); Sour number 12.82. Piper betle lynn leaves oil has antibacterial effect to bacteria of Streptococcus mutans. Piper betle lynn leaves oil tooth paste liquid can inhibited zone bacterial of Streptococcus mutans in concentration 0.5% from toothpaste weight.
