Abstract

PT Arsynergy Resources merupakan perusahaan pengolahan gas bumi yang menggunakan shell and tube heat exchanger dalam proses pemanasan regen gas dengan Therminol 66 sebagai fluida panas. Perubahan skid heat exchanger dilakukan karena unit lama dinilai belum bekerja secara optimal sehingga diperlukan evaluasi untuk mengetahui ketepatan tindakan pembaruan tersebut. Analisis ini bertujuan membandingkan kinerja heat exchanger lama dan baru berdasarkan karakteristik perpindahan panas, nilai faktor pengotoran, dan efektivitasnya. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode Kern dengan memanfaatkan data desain dan data operasi perusahaan. Tahapan analisis meliputi perhitungan kesetimbangan panas, log mean temperature difference terkoreksi, parameter aliran sisi tube dan shell, koefisien perpindahan panas menyeluruh kondisi bersih dan kondisi operasi, faktor pengotoran, serta efektivitas perpindahan panas. Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa heat exchanger lama memiliki nilai koefisien perpindahan panas menyeluruh kondisi bersih sebesar 61,7658 dan kondisi operasi sebesar 133,9753, sehingga menghasilkan faktor pengotoran negatif sebesar −0,0087. Nilai negatif tersebut menunjukkan adanya ketidaksesuaian pada data desain atau perhitungan unit lama sehingga memerlukan verifikasi lebih lanjut. Sementara itu, heat exchanger baru menghasilkan koefisien perpindahan panas kondisi bersih sebesar 148,3217, kondisi operasi sebesar 133,443, dan faktor pengotoran sebesar 0,001. Efektivitas heat exchanger lama dan baru masing-masing mencapai 88% dan 89%. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa heat exchanger baru memiliki karakteristik desain yang lebih rasional, kemampuan perpindahan panas yang lebih baik, dan efektivitas yang sedikit lebih tinggi. Dengan demikian, pembaruan skid heat exchanger di PT Arsynergy Resources dapat dinilai sebagai tindakan yang tepat untuk mendukung keandalan dan optimalisasi proses.

PT Arsynergy Resources is a natural gas processing company that employs a shell-and-tube heat exchanger to heat the regen gas using Therminol 66 as the hot fluid. The heat exchanger skid was replaced because the previous unit was considered unable to operate optimally; therefore, a performance evaluation was required to assess the appropriateness of the replacement. This analysis aims to compare the performance of the old and new heat exchangers based on their heat-transfer characteristics, fouling factors, and effectiveness. The Kern method was applied using the company’s design and operating data. The analysis included heat-balance calculations, corrected log mean temperature difference, tube-side and shell-side flow parameters, clean and operating overall heat-transfer coefficients, fouling factors, and heat-transfer effectiveness. The results indicate that the old heat exchanger had a clean overall heat-transfer coefficient of 61.7658 and an operating overall heat-transfer coefficient of 133.9753, resulting in a negative fouling factor of −0.0087. This negative value indicates an inconsistency in the old unit’s design data or calculations and therefore requires further verification. In comparison, the new heat exchanger produced a clean overall heat-transfer coefficient of 148.3217, an operating overall heat-transfer coefficient of 133.443, and a fouling factor of 0.001. The effectiveness values of the old and new heat exchangers were 88% and 89%, respectively. These findings demonstrate that the new heat exchanger has more reasonable design characteristics, better heat-transfer capability, and slightly higher effectiveness. Therefore, replacing the heat exchanger skid at PT Arsynergy Resources can be considered an appropriate measure to improve process reliability and operational performance.
