Abstract

This internship report describes the industrial training experience at PT. PERTAMINA EP Asset 4 Sukowati Field, Tuban, which is one of the crude oil and natural gas production assets owned by PT. Pertamina. The internship was conducted to fulfill the curriculum requirements of the Applied Bachelor Program (D-IV) in Industrial Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Vocational Studies, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember Surabaya. During the implementation, students conducted observations on all operational processes at the Central Processing Area (CPA) which include separation and processing of crude oil, sour gas, and formation water from the Sukowati reservoir. This facility is equipped with a Sulphur Recovery Unit (SRU), Condensate Plant, and various supporting utility systems. Special internship tasks include the preparation of process documentation in the form of Process Block Diagram, Process Flow Diagram, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagram, as well as Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) analysis. Subsequently, mass balance and energy balance calculations were performed for each major equipment in the production system. The troubleshooting section discusses the impact of exhaust gas emissions from the turbine generator on the environment, with the proposed solution being an absorption process using Methyldiethanolamine (MDEA). Simulations were conducted using Aspen HYSYS software to analyze the effects of absorbent flow rate, temperature, and composition on the effectiveness of the turbine generator exhaust gas absorption process.
