Abstract

Proses penambahan Crude Palm Oil (CPO) pada mesin mixer merupakan salah satu tahapan penting dalam proses produksi pakan ternak di PT. Japfa Comfeed Indonesia, Tbk Unit Buduran. Penyaluran CPO dilakukan menggunakan gear pump sehingga kinerja pompa sangat memengaruhi kapasitas aliran, waktu proses produksi, dan efisiensi operasional. Berdasarkan kondisi di lapangan, waktu pemindahan CPO menuju mixer lebih lama dibandingkan yang diharapkan sehingga diduga terjadi penurunan performa pompa. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan magang ini bertujuan untuk melakukan analisis kinerja gear pump melalui perhitungan teoritis dan aktual guna mengevaluasi kondisi operasional pompa serta memberikan rekomendasi perbaikan. Analisis dilakukan dengan mengumpulkan data hasil survei lapangan, spesifikasi pompa, dimensi perpipaan, tekanan operasi, serta parameter fluida, kemudian dilakukan perhitungan kecepatan aliran, debit (flow rate), Reynolds number, friction factor, head loss, Water Horse Power (WHP), Brake Horse Power (BHP), dan efisiensi pompa. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan antara kondisi teoritis dan aktual yang mengindikasikan terjadinya penurunan performa sistem pemompaan. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan, gear pump hanya memiliki efisiensi sebesar 24%, sehingga belum mampu bekerja secara optimal dalam mendistribusikan CPO menuju mixer. Penurunan efisiensi tersebut diduga disebabkan oleh keausan komponen pompa akibat umur dan lamanya waktu operasi sehingga menyebabkan kapasitas serta tekanan pompa menurun. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi tersebut, direkomendasikan dilakukan overhaul pada gear pump untuk mengembalikan performa pompa agar kapasitas aliran meningkat, waktu proses produksi menjadi lebih singkat, konsumsi energi lebih efisien, serta target produksi perusahaan dapat tercapai secara optimal.

The process of adding Crude Palm Oil (CPO) to the mixer machine is one of the important stages in the animal feed production process at PT. Japfa Comfeed Indonesia, Tbk Buduran Unit. The distribution of CPO is carried out using a gear pump so that the pump performance greatly affects the flow capacity, production process time, and operational efficiency. Based on field conditions, the time to transfer CPO to the mixer is longer than expected so that it is suspected that there is a decrease in pump performance. Therefore, this internship activity aims to analyze the performance of the gear pump through theoretical and actual calculations to evaluate the operational conditions of the pump and provide recommendations for improvements. The analysis was carried out by collecting data from field surveys, pump specifications, piping dimensions, operating pressure, and fluid parameters, then calculating the flow velocity, discharge (flow rate), Reynolds number, friction factor, head loss, Water Horse Power (WHP), Brake Horse Power (BHP), and pump efficiency. The results of the analysis showed that there was a difference between theoretical and actual conditions which indicated a decrease in the performance of the pumping system. Based on the calculation results, the gear pump only has an efficiency of 24%, so it is not yet able to work optimally in distributing CPO to the mixer. The decline in efficiency is suspected to be caused by wear and tear on pump components due to age and prolonged operation, resulting in decreased pump capacity and pressure. Based on the evaluation, an overhaul of the gear pump is recommended to restore pump performance, resulting in increased flow capacity, shorter production times, more efficient energy consumption, and optimal achievement of the company's production targets.
