Abstract

Kegiatan magang industri ini dilaksanakan di PT Bukit Asam Tbk dengan fokus pada proses perbaikan shaft input gearbox melalui metode pengelasan Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) menggunakan elektroda OK 67.45. Tujuan laporan ini adalah menganalisis kekuatan sambungan las terhadap beban puntir yang bekerja pada shaft menggunakan pendekatan perhitungan manual berdasarkan teori mekanika bahan. Analisis dilakukan dengan menentukan tegangan izin material las, menghitung momen inersia polar poros silinder pejal, serta menentukan torsi maksimum yang mampu ditahan oleh sambungan las. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan diperoleh bahwa sambungan las memiliki kemampuan menahan torsi yang lebih besar dibandingkan torsi kerja pada shaft sehingga sambungan dinyatakan aman terhadap kegagalan akibat beban puntir. Hasil analisis ini menunjukkan bahwa proses perbaikan menggunakan metode GMAW dengan elektroda OK 67.45 dapat menghasilkan sambungan las yang memiliki kekuatan mekanis yang memadai untuk mendukung keandalan operasional gearbox di PT Bukit Asam Tbk.

This industrial internship was conducted at PT Bukit Asam Tbk, focusing on the repair process of an input gearbox shaft using the Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) method with OK 67.45 welding electrode. The objective of this report is to analyze the strength of the welded joint against torsional loading using manual calculations based on the theory of mechanics of materials. The analysis was carried out by determining the allowable stress of the weld material, calculating the polar moment of inertia of the solid shaft, and evaluating the maximum torque that the welded joint can withstand. The calculation results indicate that the welded joint is capable of resisting a torque greater than the operating torque acting on the shaft, indicating that the joint is safe against torsional failure. These findings demonstrate that the GMAW repair process using the OK 67.45 electrode provides sufficient mechanical strength to ensure the operational reliability of the gearbox at PT Bukit Asam Tbk.
