Abstract

Perairan Bintan merupakan wilayah strategis yang berada di jalur pelayaran internasional Selat Malaka dengan intensitas aktivitas maritim yang tinggi sehingga berpotensi mengalami pencemaran laut berupa tumpahan minyak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis sebaran tumpahan minyak secara multi-temporal menggunakan citra satelit Sentinel-1 periode 2023 2025 dengan metode adaptive threshold. Dalam penelitian ini diterapkan dua pendekatan, yaitu global adaptive threshold dan local adaptive threshold berbasis tiles/grid. Pendekatan global dilakukan pada seluruh citra, sedangkan pendekatan berbasis grid dilakukan dengan membagi citra ke dalam beberapa ukuran tertentu untuk menghitung nilai ambang secara lokal. Penentuan parameter optimal dilakukan menggunakan studi kasus tumpahan minyak yang telah terkonfirmasi pada kecelakaan kapal di Laut Karibia tahun 2024. Studi kasus ini digunakan karena memiliki karakteristik area dark spot yang terdiri dari tumpahan minyak terverifikasi, sehingga dapat digunakan untuk mengevaluasi performa metode dalam meminimalkan false positive. Pengujian dilakukan terhadap beberapa kombinasi parameter yang meliputi ukuran tiles (1.000, 5.000, 10.000 piksel) serta faktor pengali k (3,0 ; 3,3 dan 3,5) dan pendekatan global tanpa tiles. Hasil pengujian menunjukan kombinasi ukuran tiles 5.000 piksel dengan k = 3,3 menghasilkan uji akurasi yang baik sebesar 98% dengan visual hasil yang mendekati peta yang dikeluarkan oleh disaster charter. Hasil deteksi tumpahan minyak di perairan Bintan menunjukan luas yang sangat dinamis, mulai dari 0,0016 km2 hingga 9,11 km2 dengan total luas selama tiga tahun sebesar 53,3 km2 dan rata -rata 1,48 km2 per citra. Hasil analisis multi temporal mengungkapkan pola musimam yang konsisten pada bulan Mei – Juli yang mencatat deteksi rendah akibat siklus muson barat yang melebihi 14 m/s.

The waters of Bintan constitute a strategic area located along the international shipping route of the Malacca Strait, characterized by high-intensity maritime activities that increase the potential for marine pollution in the form of oil spills. This study aims to analyze the multitemporal distribution of oil spills using Sentinel-1 satellite imagery from the 2023–2025 period through the adaptive threshold method. Two approaches were applied in this research, namelythe global adaptive threshold and the local adaptive threshold based on tiles/grids. The global approach was conducted on the entire image, while the grid-based approach divided the image into several specific sizes to calculate local threshold values. The determination of optimal parameters was carried out using a confirmed oil spill case study from a ship accident in the Caribbean Sea in 2024. This case study was selected because it contains verified dark spot characteristics associated with confirmed oil spills, making it suitable for evaluating the method’s performance in minimizing false positives. Testing was performed on several parameter combinations, including tile sizes (1,000; 5,000; and 10,000 pixels), multiplication factors k (3.0, 3.3, and 3.5), and a global approach without tiles. The results showed that the combination of a 5,000-pixel tile size with k = 3.3 produced a high accuracy level of 98%, with visual results closely matching the map issued by the Disaster Charter. The oil spill detection results in the waters of Bintan showed highly dynamic spatial extents, ranging from 0.0016 km² to 9.11 km², with a total area over the three-year period reaching 53.3 km² and an average of 1.48 km² per image. Multi-temporal analysis revealed a consistent seasonal pattern during May–July, which recorded low detection levels due to the west monsoon cycle with wind speeds exceeding 14 m/s.
