Abstract
Modified Grasshopper Optimization Algorithm (MGOA) diusulkan untuk mengoptimalkan Time Multiplier Setting (TMS), bertujuan untuk meminimalkan total waktu operasi relai sambil menghormati batasan Coordination Time Interval (CTI).

Overcurrent relays are generally used in power system protection, and proper coordination is needed to ensure reliable protection. However, in radial distribution systems with multiple distributed generators (DGs), relay coordination becomes more difficult since fault current magnitude and direction change under different operating conditions. If these changes are not properly considered, relay miscoordination and unnecessary outages may occur. Directional overcurrent relays (DOCRs) are used to improved selectivity, reliability, and efficiency with consideration of the direction and magnitude of fault currents. This paper introduces an adaptive protection scheme for optimal coordination DOCRs in the Kampong Cham radial distribution system integrated with DGs. In particular, an adaptive protection scheme is used to obtain optimal relay coordination under different system topologies. A modified grasshopper optimization algorithm (MGOA) is proposed to optimize the time multiplier setting (TMS), aiming to minimize the total operating time of relays while respecting the relay coordination time interval (CTI) constraints. The study applies four different scenarios of the system, which involves DG units installed at the end of the distribution lines. In comparison with conventional GOA, the proposed MGOA reduces the required iterations, demonstrating a consistent and significant improvement in convergence speed.
