Abstract
Produk herbisida yang diproduksi PT Petrosida Gresik adalah Sidaxone 276 SL. Herbisida ini mengandung bahan aktif paraquat diklorida, yaitu herbisida kontak yang bekerja dengan mematikan bagian tanaman yang terkena semprotan. Paraquat merupakan senyawa 1,1dimetil-4,4-bipiridilium yang stabil pada kondisi asam hingga netral namun mudah teroksidasi pada kondisi basa. Selain bahan aktif, produk Sidaxone 276 SL juga menggunakan bahan penolong, yaitu surfaktan dan thickener yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan stabilitas produk. Namun, penggunaan bahan penolong ini dapat memiliki kecenderungan untuk membentuk foam. Pembentukan foam yang berlebihan menimbulkan kerugian bagi perusahaan karena mengurangi kapasitas efektif produksi dan dapat menghambat kelancaran proses formulasi. Pembentukan foam pada proses produksi Sidaxone 276 SL untuk 1 batch yang berkapasitas 5000 L tercatat mencapai sekitar 1000 L. Hal tersebut berdampak pada losses produk dan proses pengemasan yang tidak optimal. Oleh sebab itu, pengendalian foam menjadi sangat penting agar proses produksi Sidaxone 276 SL berjalan optimal dan tidak menimbulkan kerugian berulang. Upaya pengendalian foam dilakukan dengan penambahan defoamer untuk memecah foam yang terbentuk dan mampu mengonversi foam mejadi liquid (produk). Pendekatan ini diharapkan mampu mengurangi volume foam secara efektif dan meningkatkan efisiensi produksi.

The herbicide product produced by PT Petrosida Gresik is Sidaxone 276 SL. This herbicide contains the active ingredient paraquat dichloride, a contact herbicide that works by killing the parts of the plant that are sprayed. Paraquat is a 1,1-dimethyl-4,4-bipyridilium compound that is stable in acidic to neutral conditions but easily oxidizes in alkaline conditions. In addition to the active ingredient, Sidaxone 276 SL also uses auxiliary materials, namely surfactants and thickeners, which aim to increase product stability. However, the use of these auxiliary materials can have a tendency to form foam. Excessive foam formation causes losses for the company because it reduces effective production capacity and can hinder the smooth formulation process. Foam formation in the Sidaxone 276 SL production process for one batch with a capacity of 5000 L was recorded to reach around 1000 L. This has an impact on product losses and suboptimal packaging processes. Therefore, foam control is very important so that the Sidaxone 276 SL production process runs optimally and does not cause repeated losses. Foam control efforts involve adding defoamers to break down the foam that forms and convert it into a liquid (product). This approach is expected to effectively reduce foam volume and increase production efficiency.
