Abstract

Kegiatan magang mandiri ini dilaksanakan di PT. Sun Paper Source, Ngoro, Kabupaten Mojokerto, dengan penempatan di Departemen Produksi Unit Stock Preparation yang memproduksi buburan pulp sebagai bahan baku utama pembuatan tisu. ini bertujuan untuk memahami industri saat ini dan penerapan ilmu yang dipelajari selama masa studi di Departemen Teknik Kimia Industri, Fakultas Vokasi, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, seperti proses produksi, pengolahan limbah, neraca massa, neraca energi, serta keamanan dan kesehatan kerja. Penerapan ilmu ini membantu perusahaan dalam menentukan satu cara pengujian freeness sebagai standar, sehingga hasil pengujian freeness bisa diartikan secara konsisten di setiap shift kerja. Selain itu, metode ini juga membantu dalam membuat aturan pengujian yang jelas dan memberikan pelatihan kepada operator kualitas untuk memahami bagaimana sensitivitas masing-masing metode pengujian bekerja, sehingga menghasilkan pengambilan keputusan proses yang lebih akurat.

This independent internship was conducted at PT. Sun Paper Source in Ngoro, Mojokerto Regency, with placement in the Production Department’s Stock Preparation Unit, which produces pulp slurry as the primary raw material for tissue manufacturing. The objective was to gain an understanding of the current industry and apply the knowledge acquired during studies in the Department of Industrial Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Vocational Studies, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, including production processes, waste treatment, mass balance, energy balance, and occupational safety and health. The application of this knowledge helped the company establish a single freeness testing method as the standard, ensuring that freeness test results can be interpreted consistently across every work shift. Additionally, this method aided in establishing clear testing protocols and provided training to quality control operators to understand the sensitivity of each testing method, thereby leading to more accurate process decision-making.
