Abstract
Sulfur Recovery Unit (SRU) PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional RU IV berfungsi mengonversi H₂S dalam acid gas menjadi sulfur elementer melalui proses Claus. Namun, sulfur recovery aktual masih terbatas sekitar 94–96%, dipengaruhi oleh rasio combustion air terhadap acid gas, temperatur reaksi, serta keterbatasan konversi pada thermal stage dan reaktor katalitik. Reaction furnace hanya mengonversi sekitar 60–70% H₂S, sementara hidrolisis COS dan CS₂ belum optimal. Oxygen enrichment meningkatkan kapasitas dan temperatur furnace, tetapi konsentrasi berlebih (>30–40%) meningkatkan pembentukan SO₂, CO, dan COS. Kondisi tersebut menegaskan perlunya optimasi parameter operasi untuk meningkatkan efisiensi sulfur recovery.

The reaction furnace converts only around 60–70% of H₂S, while COS and CS₂ hydrolysis remains incomplete. Oxygen enrichment increases furnace capacity and temperature, but excessive concentrations (>30–40%) promote SO₂, CO, and COS formation. These conditions highlight the need to optimize operating parameters to improve sulfur recovery efficiency.
