Abstract
Animasi merupakan media komunikasi visual yang efektif untuk menyampaikan narasi dan emosi, dengan gaya visual 2D anime sebagai salah satu estetika yang populer di masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengimplementasikan gaya visual 2D anime pada media 3D menggunakan teknik Non-Photorealistic Rendering (NPR) dan cel shading di perangkat lunak Blender. Fokus utama penelitian ini adalah mengatasi tantangan teknis dalam mempertahankan karakteristik visual 2D, seperti garis luar (outline), highlight, dan pewarnaan datar, pada lingkungan tiga dimensi yang secara alami bersifat fotorealistik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan meliputi studi literatur, eksperimen teknis cel shading, serta praktik produksi digital yang mencakup tahap praproduksi, produksi, hingga pascaproduksi. Implementasi dilakukan dengan mengembangkan sistem shader modular yang terdiri atas lima komponen utama: highlight, specular lighting, terminator line, shadow, dan light-sensitive outline. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sistem yang dikembangkan berhasil menciptakan ilusi visual 2D yang matang dan dinamis. Berdasarkan penilaian dari 13 praktisi animasi profesional, sistem ini memperoleh skor rata-rata 4,2 dari 5,0 untuk kesesuaian gaya dan 4,1 untuk penerimaan estetika. Meskipun penggunaan sistem ini mengakibatkan penurunan efisiensi waktu rendering sebesar 59,35% dibandingkan teknik cel shading konvensional, teknik ini dinilai lebih efektif dalam menghasilkan visual yang artistik secara otomatis untuk kebutuhan produksi jangka panjang. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa pendekatan NPR pada Blender mampu mereplikasi estetika anime pada media 3D, meskipun terdapat keterbatasan teknis karena basis perangkat lunak yang menggunakan pendekatan fotorealistik

Animation is an effective visual communication medium for conveying narratives and emotions, with 2D anime visual style being one of the most popular aesthetics. This study aims to implement 2D anime visual style in 3D media using Non-Photorealistic Rendering (NPR) and cel shading techniques within Blender software. The primary focus is to overcome the technical challenges of maintaining 2D visual characteristics, such as outlines, highlights, and flat shading, in a naturally photorealistic 3D environment. The research methodology includes literature studies, technical cel shading experiments, and digital production practices encompassing pre-production, production, and post-production stages. Implementation was achieved by developing a modular shader system consisting of five key components: highlight, specular lighting, terminator line, shadow, and light-sensitive outline. The results indicate that the developed system successfully creates a sophisticated and dynamic 2D visual illusion. Based on an evaluation by 13 professional animation practitioners, the system earned an average score of 4.2 out of 5.0 for style consistency and 4.1 for aesthetic acceptance. Although the implementation led to a 59.35% decrease in rendering time efficiency compared to conventional cel shading techniques, it was deemed more effective in generating automated artistic visuals for long-term production needs. This study concludes that the NPR approach in Blender is capable of replicating anime aesthetics in 3D media, despite technical limitations arising from the software's inherent photorealistic foundation.
