Abstract

PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero) Dieng Unit operates a **60 MW Geothermal Power Plant (GPP)** that utilizes geothermal steam as its primary energy source. Within the steam distribution system, **steam traps**, also known as **Condensate Drain Pots (CDPs)**, play a crucial role in removing condensate while preventing steam loss, thereby maintaining the overall efficiency of the system. However, steam trap failures, such as steam leakage or blockage, can reduce system efficiency and potentially disrupt plant operations. Therefore, temperature gauges were installed on the steam traps (CDPs) to enable direct on-site monitoring of their operating conditions. These instruments allow operators to detect temperature variations that may serve as early indicators of potential failures. The implementation of temperature gauges has demonstrated that the condition of steam traps can be monitored more easily and effectively, enabling operators to perform maintenance actions more quickly and accurately while improving the reliability and operational efficiency of the Dieng Geothermal Power Plant.
