Abstract

Formula Student of Automotive Engineer (FSAE) adalah kompetisi tahunan yang diadakan Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE) Internasional, dimana kompetisi tersebut berfokus pada rancang bangun kendaraan formula untuk tingkat mahasiswa dalam skala internasional. Pada tahun 2020 Nogogeni ITS Team untuk pertama kalinya mengikuti Formula SAE Australasia (FSAE). Pada kategori design event, Nogogeni mengambil topik tentang realiability and maneuverability kendaraan.

Formula Student of Automotive Engineer (FSAE) is an annual competition held by the International Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE), where the competition focuses on the design of formula vehicles for students on an international scale. In 2020 Nogogeni ITS Team for the first time participated in the SAE Australasia (FSAE) Formula. In the event design category, Nogogeni took the topic of vehicle reliability and maneuverability. The addition of a front wing is one solution to improve vehicle performance through car aerodynamics without increasing the mass of the vehicle. In this final project the method used is numerical simulation. The stages of this research consist of making a geometric model using the 2017 Solidworks program, then inputting the geometry model in Ansys Workbench 18.2, followed by creating a modeling domain in Ansys SpaceClaim. After the creation of the modeling domain, the meshing process was continued and then the input boundary conditions and other parameters were carried out in the Ansys Fluent 18.2 program in 3D. From the simulation results, it is known the effect of adding a front wing to the Nogogeni ITS formula student car in the form of an increase in Drag Coefficient (Cd) and Lift Coefficient (Cl) as well as drag and down forces. Before adding the front wing, the value of Cd on the car is 0.32 with a drag force of 63.10 N. After adding the front wing, the Cd value increased to 0.40 with a drag force of 79.08. The value of Cl on the car before adding the front wing is -0.11 with a down force of -22.22. After adding the front wing, the Cl value increased to -0.53 with a down force of -103.97 N. In addition to the Cd and Cl values, the details of the airflow structure around the car were also known.
