Abstract

Perancangan bertujuan memproduksi sebuah explainer video dan menguji efektivitasedukasi mengenai fenomena doomscrolling dalam meningkatkan pemahaman dan strategi penerapan regulasi diri untuk mengurangi perilaku doomscrolling. Audiens yang disasar merupakan kelompok SMA/sederajat berusia 16-18 tahun sebagai kelompok yang paling rentan melakukan doomscrolling dan membutuhkan media intervensi. Explainer video dirancang dengan menerapkan prinsip Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning (CTML). Pengujian efektivitas dilakukan melalui pre-test dan post-test berisi pemahaman doomscrolling responden, dampak negatif yang dirasakan responden, dan penerapan regulasi diri. Efektivitas ditunjukkan berdasarkan ada atau tidaknya peningkatan terkait doomscrolling yang terbagi pada objektif-objektif tersebut sebelum dan sesudah menonton explainer video. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa explainer video yang dirancang dapat menjadi strategi pembelajaran yang relevan untuk meningkatkan literasi digital dalam hal doomscrolling dan meningkatkan motivasi regulasi diri pada remaja SMA/sederajat usia 16-18 tahun.

This design aims to produce an explainer video and evaluate the effectiveness of educational content about the doomscrolling phenomenon in improving understanding and self-regulation strategies to reduce doomscrolling behavior. The targeted audience consists of high school students aged 16–18, identified as the most vulnerable group to doomscrolling and in need of media-based intervention. The explainer video was developed by applying principles of the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning (CTML). Effectiveness testing was conducted through pre-test and post-test instruments measuring respondents’ understanding of doomscrolling, perceived negative impacts, and the application of self-regulation strategies. Effectiveness was indicated by improvements across these objectives before and after watching the explainer video. The findings confirm that the designed explainer video can serve as a relevant educational strategy to strengthen digital literacy regarding doomscrolling and to foster self-regulation motivation among Generation Z high school students aged 16–18.
