Abstract

Food security and environmental sustainability are strategic issues in national development, particularly amidst the escalating degradation of natural resources. Ecological agriculture integrated with educational tourism (edu-tourism) offers an alternative approach that combines ecosystem conservation with the transfer of environmental knowledge to the community. The Environmental Education Center (PPLH) Seloliman in Trawas, Mojokerto, is a non-governmental organization that has since 1990 developed an integrated program encompassing organic farming, environmental education, and edu-tourism. This study aims to analyze the program's implementation approach, assess its educational effectiveness, and identify the factors supporting or hindering its execution. A descriptive qualitative method using a case study approach was employed. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 11 informants and field documentation, then analyzed using technique and source triangulation. The results indicate that the program's implementation rests on three pillars: agro-ecosystem-based ecological management, a tiered adaptive curriculum, and experiential learning (comprising 70% practical work and 30% theory). The program proved educationally effective based on four indicators target accuracy, program dissemination, program objectives, and program monitoring evidenced by its focus on the younger generation, participatory and practical dissemination, increased knowledge of sustainable agriculture, and a shift in participants' ecological mindset however, the mechanism for monitoring long-term post-visit impacts requires strengthening. Supporting factors include a strong institutional foundation, facilitator competence, open-air facilities, and technological innovations such as the "Smart Green House." Conversely, hindering factors include climate change, the impact of pandemic-related policies, limited human resource specialization, and accommodation capacity constraints. PPLH Seloliman represents a model of integrating ecological agriculture and edu-tourism that holds the potential to serve as a national benchmark for nature-based environmental education.
