Abstract

The lack of career preparedness among digital talents, particularly final-year university students and fresh graduates, remains one of the factors contributing to the high rate of educated unemployment in Indonesia. This issue is also aligned with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 8, as well as the Asta Cita vision, specifically Points 3 and 4, which emphasize the improvement of human resource quality. The problem arises from the fragmentation of career preparation resources, ranging from career exploration and job application document preparation to interview readiness, which are not yet integrated into a single comprehensive platform. This study aims to develop the user interface and user experience of the Aicareer application as a digital career preparation platform using the Design Thinking approach, which consists of the Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test stages. The development process was conducted through two iterations. The first iteration focused on validating application functionality, while the second iteration emphasized user experience refinement. Each testing phase involved 30 participants representing final-year students and fresh graduates. Usability testing was conducted using the Single Ease Question (SEQ) and the System Usability Scale (SUS) through the Maze platform, complemented by heuristic evaluation and Google Lighthouse assessment during the second iteration. The evaluation results demonstrated improvements across both iterations, with the average SEQ score increasing from 6.0 to 6.5 and the average SUS score improving from 78.67 to 88.83. Google Lighthouse evaluation confirmed strong performance, accessibility, and development best practices across all evaluated pages, with only minor accessibility improvements identified. Meanwhile, heuristic evaluation conducted by four UI/UX evaluators revealed that 24 out of 40 evaluation items did not fully comply with usability heuristics, with Error Prevention being the only heuristic principle consistently identified as unmet by all evaluators, including several findings classified as major usability problems. Overall, the findings indicate that the iterative implementation of the Design Thinking approach successfully produced an interface and user experience that effectively address the needs of digital talents in preparing for their careers.
