Abstract

Acute Respiratory Tract Infection (ARTI) is one of the diseases that contributes to the high use of antibiotics and has the potential to increase antimicrobial resistance if not managed appropriately. In addition, suboptimal antibiotic inventory management may lead to either shortages or overstocking in pharmacy installations. This study aims to develop a web-based system that supports antibiotic recommendation and antibiotic inventory management for ARTI cases by utilizing patient historical data and pharmaceutical data. The system was developed using the ID3 decision tree method as the decision-making mechanism for both the antibiotic recommendation feature and antibiotic stock status classification. For the antibiotic recommendation feature, the system considers patient symptoms, history of antibiotic use, history of β-lactam antibiotic allergies, the WHO AWaRe classification, and antibiotic resistance information obtained from the Comprehensive Antibiotic Resistance Database (CARD). Meanwhile, the antibiotic inventory management feature incorporates ABC, VEN classification, safety stock calculations, and reorder point analysis to support antibiotic stock monitoring and control. The system was developed using FastAPI for the backend, MySQL as the database management system, and Bootstrap for the user interface. The testing results indicate that the ID3 decision tree model for the antibiotic recommendation feature, using 150 data, achieved an accuracy of 93.33%. For the antibiotic inventory management feature, the model achieved an accuracy of 92.86% using 68 data. Functional testing demonstrated that all system features operated according to the specified requirements. Furthermore, the System Usability Scale (SUS) evaluation involving four respondents yielded an average score of 78.5, which falls within the good category. The developed system is expected to assist physicians in prescribing antibiotics more rationally while enabling pharmacy personnel to optimize drug inventory management, thereby supporting the implementation of Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) programs in hospitals more effectively.
