Abstract

Ada beberapa faktor yang dapat menghambat kinerja mahasiswa saat mengerjakan skripsi, salah satunya adalah faktor internal yang dapat berupa stres psikologis, masalah kesehatan, dan gaya belajar yang tidak sesuai. Dengan memanfaatkan teknologi gim yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai media edukasi yang terbukti memberikan perasaan senang dan hasil pembelajaran maksimal, dirancang sebuah gim simulasi skripsi dengan memanfaatkan konsep Finite State Machine yang diharapkan dapat memberikan pemahaman tentang cara menjaga kesehatan mental agar dapat termotivasi untuk mengerjakan skripsi. Metode penelitian yang dirancang adalah studi literatur, perancangan gim menggunakan Gim Development Life Cycle, dan pengujian. Pengujian dilakukan dengan metode pre test dan post test secara kuantitatif dan evaluasi post game secara kualitatif. Uji perangkat lunak berbasis ISO IEC 25010 dilakukan untuk menilai beberapa aspek kualitas perangkat lunak di dalam gim. Pengujian dilakukan menggunakan kuesioner yang dibuat di dalam Google Forms dan disebarkan kepada mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada perubahan signifikan pada hasil pre test dan post test yang disebabkan karena adanya response shift effect. Meskipun demikian pemain masih mendapatkan pengetahuan baru secara kualitatif setelah memainkan gim ini. Gim juga masih memiliki masalah pada bagian pengalaman pengguna (tutorial berupa text dump sehingga menyebabkan information overload), antarmuka pengguna (adanya tombol yang kurang kontras dan kurang jelas kegunaannya), dan tingkat kesulitan yang masih terlalu sulit bagi pemain menyebabkan belum adanya perubahan pemahaman pada pemain sebelum dan sesudah bermain.

There are several factors that can hinder students’ performance when working on their theses, one of which is internal factors such as psychological stress, health issues, and an unsuitable learning style. By leveraging gaming technology—which has been proven to serve as an educational medium that fosters enjoyment and maximizes learning outcomes—a thesis simulation game was designed using the Finite State Machine concept. This game is intended to provide insights into maintaining mental health, thereby motivating students to work on their theses. The research methodology comprised a literature review, game design using the Game Development Life Cycle, and testing. Testing was conducted using quantitative pre-test and post-test methods, along with a qualitative post-game evaluation. Software testing based on ISO/IEC 25010 was performed to assess several aspects of software quality within the game. Testing was conducted using a questionnaire created in Google Forms and distributed to students. The results of the study indicate that there were no significant changes in the pre-test and post-test scores due to the response shift effect. Nevertheless, players still gained new knowledge qualitatively after playing the game. The game also still has issues regarding the user experience (the tutorial consists of a text dump, leading to information overload) and the user interface (buttons with insufficient contrast and unclear functions), and a difficulty level that remains too high for players, resulting in no change in players’ understanding before and after playing.
