Abstract

Primary reformer merupakan peralatan utama pada pabrik amonia yang berfungsi menghasilkan gas sintesis melalui reaksi *steam reforming*. Agar proses berlangsung optimal dan aman, tekanan pada *firebox* harus dijaga dalam kondisi *negative draft* menggunakan sistem kontrol tekanan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis kinerja sistem kontrol tekanan pada *Firebox Primary Reformer* 101-B di Plant Amonia 1B PT Petrokimia Gresik. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan data historis yang diperoleh dari *Distributed Control System* (DCS), meliputi nilai *Set Value* (SV), *Process Value* (PV), dan *Manipulated Value* (MV) pada *Pressure Indicating Controller* (PIC)-1019A. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa nilai PV mampu mengikuti nilai SV dengan deviasi yang relatif kecil sehingga tekanan *firebox* dapat dipertahankan pada rentang operasi -9 mmH₂O hingga -8 mmH₂O. Nilai MV berada pada rentang 75% hingga 91%, yang menunjukkan bahwa *damper* masih bekerja dalam kondisi normal dan memiliki kapasitas yang memadai untuk merespons perubahan proses. Evaluasi berdasarkan API 560 menunjukkan bahwa seluruh data tekanan berada pada kondisi *negative draft*, dengan nilai rata-rata PV sebesar -8,98 mmH₂O dan *error* rata-rata sebesar 0,02 mmH₂O terhadap *set point*. Selain itu, tidak ditemukan indikasi *overshoot* maupun osilasi berlebihan selama periode pengamatan. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa sistem kontrol tekanan PIC-1019A mampu menjaga kestabilan tekanan *firebox* secara efektif sehingga mendukung keamanan, efisiensi, dan kontinuitas operasi *Primary Reformer* 101-B.

The Primary Reformer is the main equipment in an ammonia plant that produces synthesis gas through the steam reforming process. To ensure safe and optimal operation, the pressure inside the firebox must be maintained under negative draft conditions using a pressure control system. This study aims to analyze the performance of the pressure control system of Firebox Primary Reformer 101-B at Ammonia Plant 1B, PT Petrokimia Gresik. The analysis was conducted using historical data obtained from the Distributed Control System (DCS), including the Set Value (SV), Process Value (PV), and Manipulated Value (MV) of the Pressure Indicating Controller (PIC)-1019A. The results indicate that the PV closely follows the SV with relatively small deviations, enabling the firebox pressure to be maintained within the operating range of -9 mmH₂O to -8 mmH₂O. The MV ranges from 75% to 91%, indicating that the damper operates under normal conditions and has sufficient capacity to respond to process disturbances. Evaluation based on API 560 shows that all pressure data remain under negative draft conditions, with an average PV of -8.98 mmH₂O and an average error of 0.02 mmH₂O relative to the set point. Furthermore, no evidence of overshoot or excessive oscillation was observed throughout the monitoring period. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the PIC-1019A pressure control system effectively maintains the stability of the firebox pressure, thereby supporting the safety, efficiency, and operational continuity of Primary Reformer 101-B.
