Abstract

Arsitektur Metabolisme memandang bangunan sebagai organisme hidup yang dinamis, adaptif, dan mampu beregenerasi seiring berjalannya waktu, menolak pendekatan desain konvensional yang statis. Filosofi ini sangat relevan untuk merespons krisis penyusutan lahan pertanian produktif akibat masifnya alih fungsi lahan di Kota Batu, yang menuntut penyediaan infrastruktur agrikultur secara tangguh dan efisien. Melalui rumusan "Modular Living Ecosystem", perancangan greenhouse vertikal ini mengaplikasikan prinsip metabolisme ke dalam sistem ruang yang dapat beradaptasi terhadap siklus panen komoditas dan tantangan iklim ekstrim pegunungan. Metode perancangan dieksekusi dengan pendekatan Concept-Based Framework dan strategi Research and Development untuk merumuskan sistem bangunan hibrida. Baja Wide Flange difungsikan sebagai megastruktur utama berumur panjang, sedangkan material lokal bambu petung dirancang sebagai struktur sekunder selubung temporer. Ekspansi struktur vertikal difasilitasi oleh inovasi sistem katrol teleskopik yang memungkinkan penyisipan modul baru secara plug-and-play dari bawah, sehingga meniadakan ketergantungan pada alat berat derek (crane) yang sulit menjangkau area lereng. Sebagai sebuah ekosistem, bangunan ini mengintegrasikan sirkularitas utilitas tertutup, mencakup pemanenan air hujan dan daur ulang limbah irigasi. Secara spasial, fasilitas ini mewadahi fungsi ekonomi ganda sebagai pusat produksi pangan komersial premium sekaligus ruang interaksi agrowisata. Perancangan ini menghasilkan prototipe infrastruktur pertanian perkotaan yang responsif terhadap waktu, efisien secara ekonomi, dan menjamin keberlanjutan ekologis.

Metabolism Architecture views buildings as living organisms that are dynamic, adaptive, and capable of regenerating over time, rejecting static conventional design approaches. This philosophy is highly relevant for responding to the crisis of shrinking productive agricultural land due to massive land conversion in Kota Batu, which demands the provision of resilient and efficient agricultural infrastructure. Through the formulation of a "Modular Living Ecosystem," the design of this Vertical Greenhouse applies metabolic principles into a spatial system capable of adapting to commodity harvest cycles and extreme mountain climate challenges. The design method is executed using a Concept-Based Framework approach and a Research and Development strategy to formulate a hybrid building system. Wide Flange steel functions as the long-lasting primary megastructure, while local petung bamboo is designed as the secondary structure for the temporary envelope. Vertical structural expansion is facilitated by an innovative telescopic pulley system that allows for the plug-and-play insertion of new modules from below, thereby eliminating the reliance on heavy crane equipment that has difficulty reaching slope areas. As an ecosystem, this building integrates closed-loop utility circularity, encompassing rainwater harvesting and irrigation waste recycling. Spatially, this facility accommodates a dual economic function as both a premium commercial food production center and an agro-tourism interaction space. This design produces an urban agricultural infrastructure prototype that is time-responsive, economically efficient, and guarantees ecological sustainability.
