Abstract

Perancangan pabrik blue methanol ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan metanol rendah karbon melalui pemanfaatan gas alam dan CO₂ dari treated flue gas PT Badak LNG dengan teknologi bi-reforming. Pabrik dirancang dengan kapasitas produksi sekitar 450.000 ton/tahun dan beroperasi secara kontinu selama 330 hari/tahun. Bahan baku utama yang digunakan meliputi natural gas sebesar 316.342,76 ton/tahun, treated flue gas sebesar 223.476,66 ton/tahun, dan high pressure steam sebesar 308.540,93 ton/tahun. Proses produksi diawali dengan pengolahan flue gas untuk menyiapkan CO₂ sebagai reaktan, dilanjutkan dengan tahap pre-reforming dan reforming untuk menghasilkan gas sintesis dengan rasio H₂/CO yang sesuai. Gas sintesis kemudian dikonversi menjadi metanol pada unit methanol synthesis bertekanan tinggi, diikuti proses pemisahan dan purifikasi hingga diperoleh produk methanol grade AA sebesar 450.000 ton/tahun. Untuk mengendalikan emisi gas rumah kaca, pabrik ini dilengkapi dengan sistem Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) yang mampu menangkap hingga 90% emisi CO₂, sehingga emisi karbon dari proses produksi dapat ditekan secara signifikan. Berdasarkan analisis ekonomi, diperoleh Total Capital Investment sebesar Rp6.606.067.626.747, Total Production Cost sebesar Rp3.816.131.406.155, hasil penjualan sebesar Rp4.141.299.538.097, Internal Rate of Return sebesar 16,138%, Pay Out Time selama 6,69 tahun, dan Break Even Point sebesar 63,04%. Dengan nilai IRR yang lebih besar dari suku bunga pinjaman bank sebesar 8,6% serta waktu pengembalian modal yang lebih cepat dari umur pabrik 20 tahun, pabrik blue methanol ini dinilai layak secara teknis, ekonomis, dan lingkungan.

This blue methanol plant design aims to produce low-carbon methanol through the utilization of natural gas and CO₂ from treated flue gas of PT Badak LNG using bi-reforming technology. The plant is designed with a production capacity of approximately 450,000 tons/year and operates continuously for 330 days/year. The main raw materials used include natural gas of 316,342.76 tons/year, treated flue gas of 223,476.66 tons/year, and high-pressure steam of 308,540.93 tons/year. The production process begins with flue gas treatment to prepare CO₂ as a reactant, followed by pre-reforming and reforming stages to produce synthesis gas with a suitable H₂/CO ratio. The synthesis gas is then converted into methanol in a high-pressure methanol synthesis unit, followed by separation and purification processes to obtain grade AA methanol of 450.000 tons/year. To control greenhouse gas emissions, the plant is equipped with a Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) system capable of capturing up to 90% of CO₂ emissions, thereby significantly reducing carbon emissions from the production process. Based on the economic analysis, the Total Capital Investment is Rp6.606.067.626.747, the Total Production Cost is Rp3.816.131.406.155, sales revenue is Rp4.141.299.538.097, the Internal Rate of Return is 16,138%, the Pay Out Time is 6,69 years, and the Break Even Point is 63,04%. With an IRR higher than the bank loan interest rate of 8.6% and a payback period shorter than the plant lifetime of 20 years, this blue methanol plant is considered feasible from technical, economic, and environmental aspects.
