Abstract

The increasing national demand for electrical energy necessitates the expansion of power infrastructure across various regions, particularly in Eastern Indonesia. As a strategic measure, PT PLN (Persero) planned the construction of the 4 x 7 MW Timika Steam Power Plant (PLTU) in Mimika, Papua. The primary supporting facilities for this project include jetty and trestle structures, designed to serve 5,000 DWT barges with a 3.5 meter draft. This final project aims to evaluate the existing foundation design and redesign the substructure due to an increase in the jetty basin depth. The analysis was conducted using SAP200O software to analyze the internal forces acting on a single pile and GEO5 for soil-retaining wall stability analysis. Verification results indicate that the existing foundation design, using 508 mm diameter Steel Pipe Piles (SPP) (t = 11,9 mm), meets the safety criteria with a safety factor of 2.5, based on the Overseas Coastal Area Development (OCDI) bearing capacity calculation method. However, the existing riverbed depth does not meet the safety requirements for navigable channel. Consequently, a redesign was performed through dredging to a depth of 5 meters from elevation ± 0,00 LWS to reach a final elevation of -5,00 meters LWS. The increase in depth necessitates modifications to the substructure specifications. Based on the redesign analysis, the use of 700 mm diameter SPP (t = 12 mm) meets the safety criteria. Furthermore, the analysis using Rowe’s Method indicates the requirement for a soil-retaining structure consisting of P-P type Steel Pipe Sheet Piles (SPSP) with a 500 mm diameter (t = 12 mm). This structure is reinforced with ground anchors (13 Strands, 15,2 mm size) featuring a free length 13.5 meters and a grouting length 13.5 meters, utilized with a 13C15 type anchor head. The results of this evaluation and planning are expected to serve as a technical reference for contractors in proceeding with the 4 x 7 MW Timika Steam Power Plant Project.
