Abstract

Mahasiswa sering menghadapi situasi tak terduga dalam aktivitas sehari-hari di lingkungan kampus, seperti kendala transportasi, kehilangan barang, atau kebutuhan bantuan mendesak yang bersifat non-kritis (daily hassles). Meskipun tidak mengancam keselamatan jiwa, situasi tersebut dapat memicu stres dan mengganggu aktivitas akademik, terutama ketika mahasiswa mengalami hambatan psikososial dalam meminta bantuan, seperti rasa sungkan dan fenomena bystander effect. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan mengevaluasi prototipe aplikasi HelpMeOut, sebuah aplikasi pertolongan berbasis lokasi yang memfasilitasi bantuan peer-to-peer antar mahasiswa di lingkungan kampus. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan Design Thinking yang terdiri dari tahapan empathize, define, ideate, prototype, dan test. Data kebutuhan pengguna dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dan observasi, kemudian disintesis menjadi user persona dan empathy map. Solusi diwujudkan dalam bentuk prototipe high-fidelity dan aplikasi Minimum Viable Product (MVP) yang dikembangkan menggunakan framework Flutter dan layanan backend Firebase. Evaluasi kegunaan dilakukan melalui Heuristic Evaluation oleh ahli serta Usability Testing menggunakan metode System Usability Scale (SUS). Hasil penelitian dibuktikan dapat menghasilkan aplikasi yang memiliki tingkat kegunaan yang baik serta mampu menurunkan hambatan emosional mahasiswa dalam meminta bantuan, sehingga mendukung terciptanya lingkungan kampus yang lebih responsif dan peduli.

University students frequently encounter unexpected situations in their daily campus activities, such as transportation issues, lost belongings, or the need for immediate non-critical assistance (daily hassles). Although these situations are not life-threatening, they can trigger stress and disrupt academic activities, particularly when students experience psychosocial barriers to seeking help, including reluctance to ask for assistance and the bystander effect. This study aims to design and evaluate a prototype of HelpMeOut, a location-based assistance application that facilitates peer-to-peer support among students within the campus environment. The research adopts a Design Thinking approach consisting of empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test stages. User needs data were collected through interviews and observations, then synthesized into user personas and empathy maps. The proposed solution was developed as a high-fidelity prototype and a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) application using the Flutter framework and Firebase backend services. Usability evaluation was conducted through expert-based Heuristic Evaluation and user-based Usability Testing employing the System Usability Scale (SUS). The results of this study are proven to produce an application with good usability and to reduce students emotional barriers to seeking help, thereby supporting the creation of a more responsive and supportive campus environment.
