Abstract

Perkembangan sistem otomasi industri menuntut pemahaman terhadap sistem kontrol berbasis Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), khususnya pada industri petrokimia yang memiliki proses kompleks. Pada kegiatan magang ini dilakukan pengembangan simulator PLC Siemens S7 sebagai media pembelajaran di PT Petro Oxo Nusantara. Metode yang digunakan meliputi identifikasi komponen, perancangan ladder diagram, simulasi, dan evaluasi program. Simulator yang dikembangkan mampu merepresentasikan tahapan utama proses produksi seperti steam reforming, OXO reaction, separation, dan hydrogenation secara sederhana dan terstruktur. Selain itu, Human Machine Interface (HMI) dirancang untuk mendukung visualisasi dan interaksi sistem. Hasil simulasi menunjukkan bahwa sistem berjalan sesuai dengan logika yang dirancang dan dapat membantu dalam memahami konsep sequence control dan interlock. Dengan demikian, simulator ini dapat digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran yang efektif di bidang sistem kontrol industri.

The evolution of industrial automation systems necessitates an understanding of control systems based on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), particularly within the petrochemical industry, which involves complex processes. This internship project involved the development of a Siemens S7 PLC simulator to serve as a learning tool at PT Petro Oxo Nusantara. The methodology employed encompassed component identification, ladder diagram design, simulation, and program evaluation. The developed simulator is capable of representing key production process stages—such as steam reforming, the OXO reaction, separation, and hydrogenation—in a simplified yet structured manner. Additionally, a Human-Machine Interface (HMI) was designed to facilitate system visualization and interaction. Simulation results demonstrate that the system operates according to the designed logic and aids in understanding concepts related to sequence control and interlocks. Consequently, this simulator serves as an effective educational tool in the field of industrial control systems.
