Abstract

The Madura Strait is one of the hydrocarbon-rich offshore areas in Indonesia, with a combined gas production rate from the MDA, MBH, MDK, and MBF fields estimated at 198 MMSCFD. To support the efficient exploitation of these gas resources at water depths of 30–85 m, a suitable floating production facility is required. This Final Project aims to develop a conceptual design for a new-build Floating Production Unit (FPU) intended for operations in the Madura Strait, encompassing the determination of production module capacity and specifications, payload, principal dimensions, station keeping system, and the production of Lines Plan, General Arrangement, Safety Plan, 3D Model, and economic feasibility analysis. The design process began with the establishment of an FPU production capacity of 200 MMSCFD through the integration of the four gas fields. Production module specifications were determined using a capacity-size scaling approach benchmarked against the existing FPU Trunojoyo 01, yielding four main modules (P1 to P4) and three supporting skids. Technical calculations covering freeboard, stability, trim, seakeeping, and longitudinal strength were subsequently performed in accordance with BKI, ICLL, SOLAS, and IMO IS Code regulations. The selected station keeping system is a catenary spread mooring in a 4×3 configuration (12 legs), based on the shallow-water characteristics of the Madura Strait and the requirement for a static vessel position. Based on the technical analysis, the resulting principal dimensions of the FPU are: Overall Length (LOA) = 174 m; Length Between Perpendiculars (LPP) = 167.04 m; Breadth (B) = 32 m; Depth (H) = 12 m; and Draft (T) = 6.4 m. All technical criteria were found to comply with the applicable regulatory requirements. Following the finalization of principal dimensions, the Lines Plan, General Arrangement, Safety Plan, and 3D Model were produced. Economic feasibility analysis using 16 revenue scenarios, with variations in contract duration (10, 15, 20, and 25 years) and target IRR (12–15%), indicates that the project is financially feasible across all analyzed scenarios.
