Abstract

Advances in modern weaponry technology demand improved effectiveness, accuracy, and safety in gun control systems. Manual operating systems require operators to remain close to the gun, thereby increasing safety risks and limiting target observation. Therefore, a joystick- and camera-based remote gun control system was developed to support real-time control and targeting. The system uses a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick as the input device, a Logitech StreamCam as the targeting system, a Visual Studio Code-based GUI as the operator interface, and an STM32 Nucleo microcontroller as the data processing hub. All components are integrated via USB serial communication. Test results show that the system is capable of reading joystick inputs, sending data to the STM32, displaying real-time visuals of the target, and executing the firing command mechanism effectively. The developed system enhances operational effectiveness, assists in the targeting process, and improves operator safety.
