Abstract

Di era mobilitas tinggi, pelajar menghadapi tantangan fisik akibat meningkatnya beban perlengkapan sekolah yang berpotensi memengaruhi kesehatan postur tubuh. Data menunjukkan sekitar 40% remaja di dunia mengalami nyeri punggung bawah yang dipicu oleh beban tas melebihi 10–15% berat badan. Kondisi ini menjadi semakin krusial karena remaja usia 12–15 tahun sedang berada pada fase growth spurt, yaitu periode percepatan pertumbuhan tulang belakang yang lebih rentan terhadap gangguan postur. Meskipun 52,6% remaja telah menyadari pentingnya menjaga postur tubuh, kesadaran tersebut belum diikuti dengan perilaku yang konsisten. Di sisi lain, 71,3% remaja gemar mempersonalisasi tas dan 52,1% lebih menyukai desain yang sederhana, menunjukkan bahwa aspek emosional masih menjadi pertimbangan utama dalam pemilihan tas sekolah. Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang tas sekolah yang mampu meningkatkan kesadaran postur tubuh remaja awal melalui pendekatan Emotional Design berbasis evolvability yang mendorong terbentuknya kebiasaan penggunaan fitur ergonomis secara berkelanjutan dengan mengintegrasikan prinsip ergonomi sebagai perilaku yang ingin dibangun dan konsep affordance sebagai media yang menuntun pengguna menggunakan fitur ergonomis secara intuitif. Proses perancangan dilakukan melalui pengumpulan data primer dan sekunder, analisis ergonomi, Emotional Design, dan affordance, kemudian diwujudkan dalam bentuk prototipe dan dievaluasi melalui usability testing serta sesi umpan balik pengguna. Hasil penelitian berupa seri tas sekolah CHETAN yang terdiri atas tiga varian, yaitu Sukha, Anila, dan Aroha. Rancangan mengintegrasikan fitur ergonomi berupa Fit-to-Adjust System, Integrated Hip Support, Ergo Comfort Back Panel, dan Load Balance Compression, yang didukung pendekatan Emotional Design berbasis evolvability serta fitur affordance intuitif untuk membangun kebiasaan penggunaan fitur ergonomis. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa rancangan memenuhi aspek ergonomi, pengalaman emosional, dan kemudahan penggunaan sehingga berpotensi meningkatkan kesadaran postur tubuh pada remaja awal

In an era of high mobility, students face physical challenges due to the increasing weight of school supplies, which may negatively affect their postural health. Studies indicate that approximately 40% of adolescents worldwide experience lower back pain, primarily caused by school bags weighing more than 10–15% of their body weight. This issue is particularly critical for adolescents aged 12–15 years, who are in the growth spurt phase, a period of rapid spinal development during which they are more susceptible to postural disorders. Although 52.6% of adolescents are aware of the importance of maintaining proper posture, this awareness has not yet been translated into consistent behavior. Furthermore, 71.3% of adolescents prefer to personalize their school bags, while 52.1% favor simple designs, indicating that emotional aspects remain a primary consideration in selecting school bags. This study aims to design a school bag that enhances postural awareness among early adolescents through an Emotional Design approach based on evolvability, which encourages the development of sustainable ergonomic habits by integrating ergonomic principles as the desired behavior and the concept of affordance as an intuitive guide for using ergonomic features. The design process involved primary and secondary data collection, ergonomic, Emotional Design, and affordance analyses, followed by prototype development and evaluation through usability testing and user feedback sessions. The research resulted in the CHETAN school bag series, consisting of three variants: Sukha, Anila, and Aroha. The design integrates ergonomic features, including the Fit-to-Adjust System, Integrated Hip Support, Ergo Comfort Back Panel, and Load Balance Compression, supported by an evolvability-based Emotional Design approach and intuitive affordance features to encourage the consistent use of ergonomic functions. The evaluation results indicate that the proposed design successfully fulfills ergonomic, emotional, and usability aspects, demonstrating its potential to improve postural awareness among early adolescents
