Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh metode investment casting dan pengerolan (rolling) terhadap ketepatan frekuensi dan kualitas suara drum music box. Drum music box merupakan komponen utama yang berfungsi menghasilkan nada melalui interaksi antara tonjolan (pin) pada drum dan sisir nada (comb). Pada penelitian ini, drum dibuat menggunakan dua metode manufaktur yang berbeda. Metode investment casting menggunakan teknik filament lost block dengan pola hasil 3D printing berbahan PolyCast (PVB) dan material logam aluminium ADC12, sedangkan metode pengerolan menggunakan material plat kuningan yang dibentuk menjadi silinder. Perancangan drum dan pola nada dilakukan menggunakan perangkat lunak CAD, kemudian masing-masing drum diproduksi sesuai dengan metode yang direncanakan. Drum yang telah dibuat dirakit pada mekanisme music box dan dilakukan pengujian suara. Pengujian akustik dilakukan dengan merekam suara yang dihasilkan, kemudian dianalisis untuk memperoleh nilai frekuensi (Hz) dan kekuatan suara (dB) menggunakan perangkat lunak analisis audio. Data hasil pengujian selanjutnya dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan metode ANOVA satu arah untuk mengetahui adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua metode pembuatan drum. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa drum yang dibuat dengan kedua metode berhasil dirakit dan berfungsi baik pada mekanisme music box. Metode investment casting menghasilkan frekuensi rata-rata 1774 Hz dengan kekuatan suara rata-rata -44 dB, sedangkan metode pengerolan menghasilkan frekuensi rata-rata 1752 Hz dengan kekuatan suara rata-rata -41 dB. Hasil uji One Way ANOVA menunjukkan nilai signifikansi (P-value) sebesar 0,272 untuk frekuensi dan 0,502 untuk kekuatan suara, keduanya lebih besar dari 0,05, sehingga tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua metode. Dengan demikian, metode investment casting dan pengerolan sama-sama layak digunakan sebagai alternatif pembuatan drum music box, dengan pemilihan metode dapat disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan proses manufaktur dan biaya produksi.

This study analyzes the effect of investment casting and rolling manufacturing methods on the frequency accuracy and sound quality of a music box drum. The music box drum functions as the main component responsible for generating musical tones through interaction with the comb. In this research, the drum was manufactured using two different methods. The investment casting method employed the filament lost block technique using PolyCast (PVB) 3D-printed patterns and ADC12 aluminum alloy, while the rolling method utilized brass sheet material formed into a cylindrical shape. The drum design and note patterns were created using CAD software, followed by fabrication according to each respective method. The finished drums were assembled into a music box mechanism and tested acoustically. Sound testing was conducted by recording the generated tones and analyzing the frequency (Hz) and sound amplitude (dB) using audio analysis software. The experimental data obtained from both methods were statistically evaluated using one-way ANOVA to determine whether significant differences existed in frequency accuracy and sound quality. The results show that the investment casting drum achieved an average frequency of 1774 Hz and an average sound level of -44 dB, while the rolling drum achieved an average frequency of 1752 Hz and an average sound level of -41 dB. One-way ANOVA testing yielded significance values (P-value) of 0.272 for frequency and 0.502 for sound level, both greater than 0.05, indicating no statistically significant difference between the two manufacturing methods. Both methods therefore produce comparable acoustic performance and are viable alternatives for manufacturing music box drums, with method selection depending on manufacturing process requirements and production cost.
