Abstract

PT Surabaya Industrial Estate Rungkut (SIER) currently serves 12 tenants with an average clean water consumption of 600 m³/day, while its Reverse Osmosis (RO) production unit has a capacity of 1200 m³/day. In line with the company’s target to expand its service, the number of tenants is projected to grow to 81 tenants over the next five years, with water consumption increasing to 8.669.203 liters/day, equivalent to 100,34 L/s. This study aims to calculate water demand under projected conditions, analyze the capacity of the existing distribution system, and redesign an appropriate piping and pump system. System modeling and calculation validation were carried out using EPANET 2.2 software. The results show that the existing system, with 1 operating pump and 1 standby pump, is unable yo meet the projected load, so it is recommended to change the pump configuration to 3 centrifugal pump units (capacity of 36,1 L/s and head of 20 m per unit). The suction pipe diameter will also be enlarged from 4 inchies to 12 inches, along with several discharge lines toward the farthest areas being enlarged to 12 inchies. The effective pump head from analytical calculations is 28,27 m, and validated by EPANET simulation with a result of 28,08 m, yielding an error of 0,67%. The required motor and pump power were also calculated to optimize the projected network system. These findings are expected to serve as a technical reference for PT SIER in planning its clean water distribution system expansion and long-term investment and maintenance considerations.
