Abstract

Cabai rawit (Capsicum frutescens L.) merupakan komoditas hortikultura yang memiliki kadar air tinggi sehingga mudah mengalami kerusakan setelah panen. Salah satu metode yang dapat digunakan untuk memperpanjang masa simpan cabai adalah proses pengeringan. Namun, penggunaan oven pengering memerlukan energi listrik yang cukup besar. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk merancang dan menganalisis sistem catu daya berbasis solar cell sebagai sumber energi listrik pada oven pengering cabai rawit. Sistem yang digunakan terdiri atas panel surya 50Wp, solar charge controller, aki 12V 5Ah, watt meter, dan oven pengering sebagai beban. Pengambilan data dilakukan selama lima hari dengan mengukur intensitas cahaya matahari, tegangan, arus, dan daya keluaran panel surya setiap satu jam mulai pukul 08.00 hingga 17.00 WIB. Data yang diperoleh digunakan untuk menganalisis kinerja panel surya, kebutuhan energi oven, efisiensi sistem, dan rugi daya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa intensitas cahaya matahari memengaruhi kinerja panel surya. Daya keluaran tertinggi sebesar 29,47W pada intensitas cahaya 16.490 lux, sedangkan daya terendah sebesar 10,37W pada intensitas cahaya 6.590 lux. Sistem menghasilkan energi total sebesar 262,5Wh, sedangkan kebutuhan energi oven sebesar 768,3Wh sehingga kebutuhan energi belum dapat terpenuhi secara penuh. Perhitungan efisiensi sistem sebesar 58,94% dengan rugi daya sebesar 41,06%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian sistem catu daya berbasis solar cell berhasil dirancang dan dioperasikan, namun kapasitas panel surya dan aki masih perlu ditingkatkan agar mampu memenuhi kebutuhan energi oven lebih optimal. ====================================================================================================================================
Cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) is one of the horticultural commodities with a high moisture content making it highly susceptible to post harvest deterioration. One method commonly used to extend its shelf life is drying. However, the operation of a drying oven requires a considerable amount of electrical energy. Therefore, this study was conducted to design and analyze a solar cell based power supply system as an alternative energy source for a cayenne pepper drying oven. The proposed system consisted of a 50Wp solar panel, a solar charge controller, a 12V 5Ah battery, a watt meter, and a drying oven as the load. Data collection was carried out over five consecutive days. Measurements of light intensity, output voltage, current, and power generated by the solar panel were recorded every hour from 08.00 to 17.00 WIB. The collected data were then used to evaluate the electrical performance of the solar panel, estimate the energy demand of the drying oven, and determine the system efficiency and power losses. The results showed that solar light intensity affected the performance of the solar panel. The highest power output of 29,47W was obtained at a light intensity of 16.490 lux, while the lowest power output of 10,37W occurred at 6.590 lux. The system produced a total available energy of 262,5Wh, whereas the drying oven required 768,3Wh, indicating that the available energy was insufficient to fully meet the load demand. The calculated system efficiency was 58,94%, with a power loss of 41,06%. Based on these results the solar cell based power supply system was successfully designed and operated, however the capacities of the solar panel and battery need to be increased to meet the energy demand of the drying oven more effectively.
