Abstract

Perkembangan produk home wellness di segmen premium kini bergeser dari pemenuhan fungsi utilitarian menuju penciptaan pengalaman multisensorial dan kenyamanan psikologis di dalam hunian. Namun, perangkat diffuser yang ada di pasaran saat ini didominasi material plastik masal yang kurang mendukung estetika ruang mewah, sementara material alam lokal seperti batu Onyx belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal untuk produk teknologi interior. Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang sebuah diffuser ultrasonik berbahan batu Onyx yang mampu menghadirkan luxury experience melalui integrasi aspek materialitas, teknologi emisi uap, dan manipulasi cahaya. Metode perancangan yang digunakan berbasis design thinking, meliputi tahapan empati terhadap pengguna premium, eksperimen material untuk menguji ketebalan optimal Onyx terhadap translusensi cahaya, serta pengujian teknis penempatan komponen elektrikal. Hasil perancangan ini berupa sebuah diffuser ultrasonik premium yang mengeksploitasi karakter unik serat dan sifat translusen batu Onyx untuk menghasilkan pendaran cahaya (ambience lighting) yang menenangkan. Produk ini berhasil mengintegrasikan modul piezoelektrik ultrasonik yang bekerja secara hening tanpa mengurangi estetika eksternal material. Melalui pendekatan Cognitive Ergonomics dan Self-Congruity Theory, emisi uap dan visualisasi material ini secara efektif mampu menurunkan beban mental pengguna serta meningkatkan persepsi kemewahan (luxury perception) pada ruang interior modern.

The development of home wellness products in the premium segment has shifted from fulfilling utilitarian functions to creating multisensory experiences and psychological comfort within the home. However, current diffusers in the market are dominated by mass-produced plastic materials that lack support for luxury aesthetics, while local natural materials such as Onyx stone have not been optimally utilized for interior technology products. This study aims to design an Onyx-based ultrasonic diffuser capable of delivering a luxury experience through the integration of materiality, mist emission technology, and light manipulation. The design method applied is based on design thinking, encompassing user empathy stages for premium consumers, material experimentation to test the optimal thickness of Onyx for light translucency, and technical testing of electrical component placement. The final design presents a premium ultrasonic diffuser that exploits the unique grain and translucent properties of Onyx stone to produce a soothing ambient glow. The product successfully integrates an ultrasonic piezoelectric module that operates silently without compromising the external aesthetics of the material. Through Cognitive Ergonomics and Self-Congruity Theory approaches, the mist emission and material visualization are proven to effectively reduce the user's mental workload and enhance the perception of luxury within modern interior spaces
