Abstract

Pesatnya urbanisasi di Indonesia yang mencapai 57,93% telah memicu krisis lahan dan penyusutan luas unit hunian vertikal secara signifikan, mengakibatkan keterbatasan kapasitas penyimpanan dan area kerja bagi penghuni apartemen studio. Perancangan ini bertujuan mengembangkan storage unit adaptif bernama STAPEL berbahan Plywood Full Meranti yang menerapkan sistem sambungan cantilever snap-fit berbasis fabrikasi CNC sebagai mekanisme perakitan tool-less yang memungkinkan pengguna merakit dan membongkar furnitur sepenuhnya dengan tangan kosong tanpa alat pertukangan. Metode perancangan berfokus pada pendekatan berbasis eksperimen spesimen snap-fit sebagai metode utama, dengan didukung oleh pengumpulan data primer melalui observasi lapangan, kuesioner terhadap 34 responden penghuni unit studio Apartemen Kyo Society Surabaya, wawancara stakeholder, serta data sekunder berbasis studi literatur. Optimasi geometri snap-fit dilakukan melalui pengujian 7 spesimen yang menghasilkan konfigurasi kantilever 9 cm dengan komponen plug sebagai pengunci sekunder, menghasilkan sambungan yang menyeimbangkan kekuatan struktural dan kemudahan konfigurasi ulang. Sistem modular flat-pack yang dikembangkan menghasilkan empat konfigurasi dari satu set komponen standar: penyimpanan standar, workstation terintegrasi, wardrobe, dan credenza dengan area TV hingga 43 inci, dalam dimensi dasar 116 × 40 × 176 cm yang memenuhi seluruh regulasi Apartemen Kyo Society. Hasil perancangan diharapkan menjadi alternatif furnitur yang fleksibel, mudah dimobilisasi, dan dapat dirakit secara mandiri oleh penghuni hunian kompak tanpa keahlian teknis pertukangan.

Rapid urbanization in Indonesia, reaching 57.93%, has triggered a land crisis and a significant reduction in the size of vertical living units, resulting in limited storage capacity and workspace for studio apartment residents. This design aims to develop an adaptive storage unit named STAPEL made of Full Meranti Plywood, implementing a CNC fabrication-based cantilever snap-fit joint system as a tool-less assembly mechanism that enables users to assemble and disassemble the furniture entirely with bare hands without woodworking tools. The design method focuses on an experiment-based approach using snap-fit specimens as the primary methodology, supported by primary data collection through field observations, questionnaires administered to 34 studio unit residents at Kyo Society Apartment Surabaya, stakeholder interviews, and secondary data from literature studies. Optimization of the snap-fit geometry was conducted through the testing of 7 specimens, resulting in a 9 cm cantilever configuration with a plug component as a secondary lock, balancing structural strength and ease of reconfiguration. The developed flat-pack modular system yields four configurations from a single set of standard components: standard storage, an integrated workstation, a wardrobe, and a credenza accommodating up to a 43-inch TV, within a base dimension of 116 × 40 × 176 cm that complies with all Kyo Society Apartment regulations. The design outcome is expected to serve as a flexible, easily mobilized furniture alternative that can be independently assembled by compact living residents without technical woodworking skills.
