Abstract
Mikronanoplastik (MNP) merupakan kontaminan lingkungan yang dapat masuk ke dalam tubuh manusia melalui jalur ingesti dan inhalasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan kadar dan jenis cemaran MNP pada rongga mulut, usus, dan rongga nasal antara penduduk urban dan pengumpul sampah di Surabaya, serta menganalisis korelasi cemaran MNP antarjalur tersebut. Penelitian dilakukan pada 29 probandus yang terdiri atas 10 penduduk urban dan 19 pengumpul sampah. Sampel oral, feses, dan nasal dianalisis menggunakan spektroskopi Raman. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji Mann–Whitney, korelasi Spearman, analisis prevalensi, dan Principal Coordinates Analysis (PCoA). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa MNP terdeteksi pada seluruh sampel oral, feses, dan nasal. Secara statistik tidak terdapat perbedaan signifikan kadar MNP antara penduduk urban dan pengumpul sampah pada ketiga jenis sampel, yang juga didukung oleh hasil PCoA yang menunjukkan adanya tumpang tindih komposisi polimer antara kedua kelompok. Namun, penduduk urban cenderung memiliki konsentrasi MNP lebih tinggi pada sampel oral, sedangkan pengumpul sampah cenderung memiliki konsentrasi lebih tinggi pada sampel feses dan nasal, meskipun perbedaan tersebut tidak signifikan secara statistik. Berdasarkan konsentrasi, polimer yang dominan adalah polyethylene terephthalate (PET) dan high-density polyethylene (HDPE), sedangkan polystyrene (PS) memiliki prevalensi tertinggi. Analisis korelasi menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat korelasi profil cemaran mikronanoplastik antara jalur ingesti (rongga oral dan usus) dengan jalur inhalasi (rongga nasal). Namun demikian, terdapat konsistensi pada jenis polimer HDPE dan LDPE pada ketiga jenis sampel dengan nilai korelasi negatif.

Micro- and nanoplastics (MNPs) are environmental contaminants that can enter the human body through ingestion and inhalation pathways. This study aimed to compare the levels and types of MNP contamination in the oral cavity, intestine, and nasal cavity between urban residents and waste collectors in Surabaya, as well as to analyze the correlation of MNP contamination across these exposure pathways. The study involved 29 participants, consisting of 10 urban residents and 19 waste collectors. Oral, fecal, and nasal samples were analyzed using Raman spectroscopy. The data were analyzed using the Mann–Whitney test, Spearman correlation analysis, prevalence analysis, and Principal Coordinates Analysis (PCoA). The results showed that MNPs were detected in all oral, fecal, and nasal samples. Statistically, no significant differences in MNP concentrations were observed between urban residents and waste collectors across the three biological matrices, a finding further supported by the PCoA results, which showed substantial overlap in polymer composition between the two groups. However, urban residents tended to exhibit higher MNP concentrations in oral samples, whereas waste collectors tended to show higher concentrations in fecal and nasal samples, although these differences were not statistically significant. Based on concentration, the dominant polymers were polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE), while polystyrene (PS) showed the highest prevalence. Correlation analysis showed no correlation between micro- and nanoplastic contamination profiles in the ingestion pathways (oral cavity and intestine) and the inhalation pathway (nasal cavity). However, consistent occurrences of HDPE and LDPE polymers were identified across the three biological matrices, with negative correlation values.
