Abstract

Melalui konsep synomorphy, hubungan tersebut dinilai berdasarkan degree of fit.

Within Environmental Psychology, people and their surroundings are understood as mutually influential. Behavior Setting Theory narrows this relationship to the fit between recurring patterns of activity and the milieu in which they occur. Through the concept of synomorphy, this relationship is assessed based on the degree of fit. Yet many elderly housing schemes still rely on generalized solutions, leaving the physical, perceptual, social, and psychological needs of residents only partly addressed. This issue is increasingly relevant for Generation Z as future elderly users who grew up as digital natives, have a strong need for autonomy, and may face the possibility of aging alone. This project therefore explores a living environment that can adapt to changing needs while remaining familiar to Generation Z in later life. Extrapolation is used to project user characteristics, needs, projected standing patterns of behavior, and milieu requirements based on present conditions and observable trends. The projection results are operationalized through the Force-Based Framework as a generative and iterative framework, with familiarity as the main engageable force. The proposed design is assessed through synomorphy by examining four dimensions of fit: physiological, perceptual, social accessibility, and psychological comfort. The design outcome is an adaptive terraced living environment in Blotongan, Salatiga, integrating varied housing typologies, supporting facilities, therapeutic landscapes, inclusive mobility, and adaptive technology. Architecture of Familiarity is realized through continuity of routines, spatial legibility, user control, a sense of safety, identity, and social relationships that continue to provide choices for privacy.
