Abstract

This research was conducted on a gas turbine generator (GTG) operating in the Oil and Gas industry as a primary equipment for electricity generation to support operational continuity. A decline in equipment performance may reduced operational effectiveness, therefore a evaluation was carried out using the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and six big losses. is required. Accordingly, this study employed the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and The OEE method was used to evaluate equipment effectiveness based on three components : availability, performance, and quality, while the six big losses method was applied to identify the major sources of losses affecting equipment performance. The results indicate that the OEE value of the compressor was 67,02%, with availability 83,27%, performance 93,20%, and quality 86,35%. The combustion chamber achieved an OEE value of 21,28% with availability 83,27%, performance 67,79%, and quality 37,70%. The turbine recorded an OEE value of 55,99%, with availability 83,27%, performance 87,71%, and quality 76,66%. Meanwhile, the generator obtained an OEE value of 25,69%, with availability 83,27%, performance 41,75%, and quality 73,91%. The efficiency analysis indicated efficiencies of 90,96% for the compressor, 86,35% for the combustion chamber, 93,62% for the turbine, 90,63% for the generator, and 21,74% for the overall gas turbine generator. The results indicate that the OEE values of all equipment remain below the world-class standard of 85%. The low OEE values were primarily caused by reduced performance and quality, which contributed significantly to reduce speed losses (RSL) and product defect losses (PDL). The compressor, the RSL and PDL values were 6,80% and 13,65%, the combustion chamber 32,20% and 62,30%, the turbine 12,29% and 23,34, and the generator 58,24% and 26,09%. Based on the findings, more effective maintenance strategies and improvements in operational quality can be implemented for each GTG equipment component to enchae system reliability an increase OEE values toward the world-class standard.
