Abstract

Gas Extraction System pada Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Panas Bumi (PLTP) PT. Pertamina Geothermal Energy Unit Area Kamojang memiliki peran penting dalam menjaga performa sistem dengan mengeluarkan Non Condensable Gas (NCG) dari condenser. Kegagalan pada sistem ini dapat menyebabkan penurunan vakum, penurunan efisiensi turbin, serta potensi overpressure yang dapat berujung pada Loss of Primary Containment (LOPC). Oleh karena itu, diperlukan analisis keselamatan untuk memastikan keandalan sistem proteksi yang ada. Metode yang digunakan meliputi Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) untuk identifikasi bahaya serta Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) untuk menentukan kebutuhan pengurangan risiko dan nilai SIL Required. Selanjutnya dilakukan verifikasi SIL terhadap sistem existing berdasarkan perhitungan Probability of Failure on Demand Average (PFDavg). Hasil analisis LOPA menunjukkan bahwa kebutuhan SIL berada pada rentang SIL 1 hingga SIL 2, dengan nilai Risk Reduction Factor (RRF) sebesar 40–300. Verifikasi SIL dilakukan pada level Safety Instrumented Function (SIF) dengan mengelompokkan beberapa skenario yang memiliki mekanisme proteksi yang sama. Hasil verifikasi menunjukkan bahwa sistem existing memiliki nilai PFDavg sebesar 1,93 × 10⁻³ yang berada pada rentang SIL 2, sehingga mampu memenuhi kebutuhan SIL yang dipersyaratkan. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa sistem proteksi yang ada telah memiliki tingkat keandalan yang memadai dalam mengurangi risiko hingga ke tingkat yang dapat diterima. Dengan demikian, Gas Extraction System Unit 5 PLTP Kamojang telah memiliki sistem proteksi yang cukup andal, namun tetap diperlukan evaluasi berkala dan peningkatan sistem untuk menjaga dan meningkatkan tingkat keselamatan operasional.

The Gas Extraction System at Unit 5 of the Kamojang Geothermal Power Plant (GPP), operated by PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Area Kamojang, plays a critical role in maintaining system performance by removing Non-Condensable Gases (NCGs) from the condenser. Failure of this system may result in vacuum degradation, reduced turbine efficiency, and potential overpressure conditions that could lead to a Loss of Primary Containment (LOPC). Therefore, a safety analysis is required to ensure the reliability of the existing protection system. The methods employed in this study include Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) for hazard identification and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) to determine the required risk reduction and the Safety Integrity Level (SIL) requirements. SIL verification was subsequently performed on the existing protection system based on the calculation of the Average Probability of Failure on Demand (PFDavg). The LOPA results indicate that the required SIL ranges from SIL 1 to SIL 2, corresponding to a Risk Reduction Factor (RRF) of 40–300. SIL verification was conducted at the Safety Instrumented Function (SIF) level by grouping scenarios that shared the same protection mechanisms. The verification results show that the existing system has a PFDavg value of 1.93 × 10⁻³, which falls within the SIL 2 range and satisfies the required SIL. This demonstrates that the existing protection system provides an adequate level of reliability in reducing risk to an acceptable level. In conclusion, the Gas Extraction System at Unit 5 of the Kamojang Geothermal Power Plant has a sufficiently reliable protection system. Nevertheless, periodic evaluation and continuous system improvements are recommended to maintain and further enhance operational safety.
