Abstract
Penggunaan sistem penyemprotan berbasis timer belum mampu menyesuaikan perubahan kondisi lingkungan sehingga kelembaban menjadi kurang stabil, penggunaan nutrisi kurang efisien, dan pertumbuhan tanaman belum optimal.

Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is one of the most widely cultivated horticultural crops using aeroponic systems; however, its growth is highly dependent on maintaining stable humidity in the root zone. Conventional timer-based misting systems are unable to adapt to changing environmental conditions, resulting in unstable humidity, inefficient nutrient utilization, and suboptimal plant growth. This study aimed to develop a DHT22 sensor-based mist fertilizer control system using an on-off control method for a vertical aeroponic system. The proposed system employed an ESP32 microcontroller to regulate the operation of the mist maker and cooling fan based on real-time humidity measurements. System performance was evaluated over a seven-day cultivation period by comparing three operating methods: adaptive sensor-based control, continuous 24-hour misting, and timer-based control. The results showed that the adaptive control system maintained an average relative humidity of 87.65%, achieved the highest plant growth with a plant height of 9.46 cm and a plant width of 4.26 cm on the seventh day after planting, and reduced nutrient solution consumption to 9.92 L, representing approximately 55.5% lower consumption than the continuous misting method while maintaining superior plant growth performance.
