Abstract

Behavior setting theory emphasizes that human behavior arises from the synergy between activity programs and the physical-social milieu, so that space can direct, support, and limit behavior patterns. Neuroarchitecture theory adds scientific credibility by explaining how spatial qualities—lighting, materials, form, and connection to nature—affect the brain, feelings, and cognitive experiences. The integration of the two offers a holistic framework for understanding adolescent behavior, from social influences to neuropsychological foundations. The relevance of this theory is increasingly important amid rising cases of juvenile crime in Indonesia, which indicate poor social spaces and psychological support in the environment. Existing rehabilitation facilities for juvenile offenders are still oriented towards supervision and punishment, thus risking failure to stop the cycle of repeat offenses. The main issue is how to design transformative rehabilitation facilities by integrating behavior setting, neuroarchitecture principles, and the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) model so that they become a place for psychological recovery as well as a catalyst for community involvement. The goal is to create a design that encourages positive social interaction, reduces opportunities for deviant behavior, and provides a restorative environment that supports mental recovery and strengthens social capital. The methods used include theoretical studies, precedent analysis, and synthesis of eco-behavioral and neuro-therapeutic design concepts based on ABCD. In the design process, the metaphor design method is used as a form-making method, with the concept of complete metamorphosis as a source of analogy that represents the process of change, growth, and regeneration of adolescent behavior towards a more positive personality. The expected result is an inclusive, flexible, and stigma-free rehabilitation facility for juvenile offenders, with educational and recreational spaces, therapeutic gardens, and community collaboration areas.
