Abstract

Performative Regionalism oleh Barbara Allen ialah dasar teori yang berusaha menggeser fokus arsitektur regional dari gaya dan aspek-aspek fisikal menjadi pendekatan humanis dengan menyoroti performa sosial dan budaya manusia yang menjadi identitas budayanya sebagai fokus utama dalam desain. Sebagai kawasan bersejarah kerajaan Kutai Kertanegara ing Martapura, Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara memiliki kekayaan sosial-budaya yang perlu lebih dikenal dan dilestarikan oleh masyarakatnya. Pasar Seni Melayu menjadi lokasi tapak rancangan yang potensial bagi tipologi arsitektur pusat budaya. Melalui pendekatan performative regionalism dan Concept-based framework, perancangan terfokus pada konsep utama arsitektur sebagai manifestasi adat Erau Kutai. Proses dalam rancangan dilakukan dengan mentranslasikan konsep rangkaian prosesi adat Erau Kutai beserta alur dan maknanya ke dalam arsitektur tanpa mengabaikan konteks lokasi. Sehingga pada akhirnya dihasilkan berupa Community Center yang mengintegrasikan aspek fungsi ruang kreatif dengan pengalaman ruang yang bermakna. Rancangan diharapkan menjadi wadah yang mendorong terjadinya aktivitas masyarakat sekaligus memperkuat identitas budaya lokal di Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara.

Performative Regionalism by Barbara Allen is a theoretical basis that attempts to shift the focus of regional architecture from style and physical aspects to a humanistic approach by highlighting human social performance as a cultural identity. In this theory, human habits and actions, become an important domain that needs to be transformed into architecture. As the historical region of the Kutai Kertanegara ing Martapura kingdom, Kutai Kartanegara Regency has a wealth of socio-cultural heritage that needs to be discovered and preserved by its people. The Pasar Seni Melayu area was selected as the project site for to its potential to accommodate a cultural community center. Using the Performative Regionalism approach and the Concept-based Framework, the design focuses on the values embodied in the Erau traditional ceremony as the main architectural concept. The design process translates the sequences of Erau rituals, their meanings, and cultural values into architectural elements while responding to the site's context. The result is a Community Center that integrates creative functions with open public spaces. The proposed design is expected to provide a place for community activities while enabling the practice of cultural identity of Kutai Kartanegara.
