Abstract
Pendekatan arsitektur modern cenderung memisahkan manusia dari alam melalui dominasi desain visual dan fokus pada low environmental impact design, sehingga kebutuhan manusia akan kontak dengan alam sering terabaikan. Padahal, Biophilia menjelaskan bahwa manusia memiliki kecenderungan alami untuk berafiliasi dengan alam, dan keterhubungan tersebut berperan penting dalam meningkatkan kesehatan fisik, kesejahteraan psikologis, serta kualitas hidup. Kebutuhan ini menjadi semakin penting bagi lansia karena proses penuaan menyebabkan penurunan kemampuan fisik, kognitif, dan sosial yang menjadikan kualitas lingkungan hunian berpengaruh langsung terhadap kesehatan, kemandirian, dan kesejahteraan mereka. Di Indonesia, hunian lansia masih didominasi oleh model institusional, padahal Aging in the Right Place menekankan pentingnya lingkungan yang mampu mendukung independence, residential normalcy, dan hubungan sosial selama proses menua. Perancangan ini bertujuan menghasilkan usulan permukiman lansia non-institusional berbasis desain biofilik melalui penerapan 14 Patterns of Biophilic Design, teori Aging in the Right Place, dan metode Critical Regionalism yang merespons karakteristik ekologi tapak, iklim, topografi, serta penggunaan material tanah liat sebagai identitas lokal. Hasilnya berupa usulan permukiman yang mengintegrasikan hunian, ruang komunal, aktivitas sehari-hari, lanskap biofilik, dan konteks lokal untuk mendukung kesehatan fisik, kesejahteraan psikologis, interaksi sosial, serta kualitas hidup lansia selama proses menua.

Modern architectural approaches tend to separate humans from nature through the dominance of visual design and a focus on low environmental impact design, often overlooking the fundamental human need for contact with nature. However, Biophilia explains that humans possess an innate tendency to affiliate with nature, and that this connection plays a significant role in improving physical health, psychological well-being, and overall quality of life. This need becomes increasingly important for older adults, as the aging process leads to declines in physical, cognitive, and social capacities, making the quality of the residential environment a crucial determinant of their health, independence, and well-being. In Indonesia, housing for older adults is still predominantly represented by institutional models, whereas Aging in the Right Place emphasizes the importance of residential environments that support independence, residential normalcy, and social connectedness throughout the aging process. This design project proposes a non-institutional housing model for older adults based on Biophilic Design through the application of the 14 Patterns of Biophilic Design, the theory of Aging in the Right Place, and the Critical Regionalism approach, which responds to the site's ecological characteristics, climate, topography, and the use of clay as a representation of local identity. The proposed design integrates residential units, communal spaces, daily activities, biophilic landscapes, and local context to support the physical health, psychological well-being, social interaction, and overall quality of life of older adults throughout the aging process.
