Abstract

Arsitektur Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri (SMAN) di Indonesia umumnya direproduksi secara seragam, menghasilkan ruang yang homogen dan terlepas dari dinamika sosial lokal. Praktik ini berkontribusi pada terciptanya abstract space, sebagaimana dikemukakan oleh Henri Lefebvre, yang gagal merepresentasikan formasi sosial yang melahirkannya. Permasalahan ini menjadi semakin krusial di wilayah peri-urban agraris seperti Kecamatan Jasinga, Bogor Barat, yang menghadapi kesenjangan antara standar pendidikan nasional dan realitas sosial-ekonomi berbasis agraris. Perancangan ini berangkat dari pendekatan architecture and social sustainability (Staub), serta teori spatial agency (Awan, Schneider, Till) untuk merumuskan metodologi arsitektur yang tetap mampu menghadirkan keberlanjutan sosial pada bangunan publik dengan pengguna berubah secara berkala. Arsitektur dan keberlanjutan sosial dipahami sebagai upaya mewujudkan kebermanfaatan ruang (secara sosial), daya tindak pengguna pada ruang (sosial), dan orientasi masa depan bersama melalui ruang (sosial). Metodologi yang digunakan adalah Force-Based Design Framework (Plowright), yang mengintegrasikan analisis multidisiplin sosial, ekonomi, dan ekologi melalui identifikasi dan klasifikasi forces, penerapan spatial judgement, serta critical awareness dalam perakitan sistem arsitektur. Hasil perancangan berupa prototipe SMA agribisnis di Jasinga yang mengintegrasikan ruang pembelajaran, laboratorium riset, fasilitas produksi pertanian, dan ruang pendukung yang responsif terhadap ekonomi agraris, dinamika pengguna, dan tantangan ekologis. Tugas Akhir ini berkontribusi pada pengembangan perancangan arsitektur berbasis teori keberlanjutan sosial serta perluasan penerapan spatial agency pada infrastruktur pendidikan di wilayah peri-urban.

Public upper-secondary school (SMAN) in Indonesia is commonly reproduced in a standardized manner, producing homogeneous spaces that are disconnected from local social dynamics. This practice contributes to the formation of abstract space, as articulated by Henri Lefebvre, which fails to represent the social formations from which it emerges. This condition becomes particularly critical in agrarian peri-urban contexts such as Jasinga District, West Bogor, where a significant gap exists between national educational standards and local agrarian socio-economic realities. This design research draws upon the approach of architecture and social sustainability (Staub), and the theory of spatial agency (Awan, Schneider, Till) to formulate an architectural methodology capable of sustaining social sustainability within public buildings whose users change periodically. Architecture and Social sustainability is understood here as the pursuit of spatial functionality, spatial agency, and a shared future orientation through spatial structures. The methodology adopts Plowright’s Force-Based Design Framework, integrating multidisciplinary analyses across social, economic, and ecological dimensions through the identification and classification of forces, spatial judgement, and critical awareness in the assembly of architectural systems. The design outcome is a prototype of an agribusiness-oriented upper-secondary school in Jasinga that integrates learning spaces, research laboratories, agricultural production facilities, and supporting spaces responsive to agrarian economic cycles, user dynamics, and local ecological challenges. This Final Project contributes to the development of theory-driven architectural design and extends the application of spatial agency within educational infrastructure in peri-urban contexts.
