Abstract
Auditorium Pondok Pesantren Muhammadiyah Karangasem Paciran, Lamongan, merupakan fasilitas multifungsi yang membutuhkan peningkatan optimalisasi ruang dan penguatan identitas visual. Tata ruang dan sirkulasi yang belum optimal, kurangnya kualitas pencahayaan dan akustik, sistem furnitur yang kurang mendukung fleksibilitas konfigurasi ruang, serta minimnya elemen identitas visual yang merepresentasikan branding Muhammadiyah dan konteks lokasinya. Perancangan menggunakan metode design thinking melalui tahapan emphatize, define, ideate, prototype, dan test untuk merumuskan solusi desain interior dengan konsep modern kontemporer. Hasil dari perancangan ini mencakup pengembangan layout dalam empat iterasi desain yang meningkatkan sirkulasi dalam auditorium, penyesuaian kapasitas auditorium, serta meningkatkan optimalisasi fungsi ruang VIP dan backstage agar mampu mengakomodasi aktivitas ganda, baik acara formal maupun pernikahan, dengan tambahan komponen smart building pada aspek pencahayaan. Penambahan partisi pada ruang auditorium utama dikembangkan hingga terpilih sistem vertical operable partition yang mengintegrasikan motif transformasi logo Muhammadiyah dan motif identitas lokal Lamongan sebagai solusi fleksibilitas ruang sekaligus elemen branding utama dalam ruang. Implementasi branding diwujudkan melalui pendekatan tiga lapis, yaitu warna, material, dan bentuk, yang dipadukan dengan konteks identitas lokal. Hasil pengujian melalui kuesioner terhadap 23 responden memperoleh skor rata-rata 4,53 dari skala 1–5 (90,6%) dengan kategori sangat baik pada seluruh aspek yang diukur, sehingga perancangan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi acuan pengembangan fasilitas auditorium pesantren yang fungsional, estetis, dan representatif.

The auditorium at the Muhammadiyah Karangasem Paciran Islamic Boarding School in Lamongan is a multi-purpose facility requiring improved spatial optimisation and a stronger visual identity. The layout and circulation are not yet optimal; the quality of lighting and acoustics is inadequate; the furniture system does not sufficiently support flexible room configurations; and there is a lack of visual identity elements that represent the Muhammadiyah brand and the local context. The design process utilised the design thinking methodology through the stages of empathise, define, ideate, prototype and test to formulate an interior design solution based on a modern contemporary concept. The results of this design process include the development of a layout through four design iterations that improve circulation within the auditorium, adjust the auditorium’s capacity, and optimize the functionality of the VIP and backstage areas to accommodate dual-purpose activities, such as formal events and weddings, with the addition of smart building components for lighting. The addition of partitions in the main auditorium space was developed until a vertical operable partition system was selected, integrating the transformed Muhammadiyah logo motif and local Lamongan identity motifs as a solution for spatial flexibility as well as a key branding element within the space. Branding was implemented through a three-layered approach, such as colour, material, and form, and that’s integrated with the context of local identity. Test results from a questionnaire administered to 23 respondents yielded an average score of 4.53 on a scale of 1–5 (90.6%), with a “very good” rating across all measured aspects. Consequently, this design is expected to serve as a benchmark for the development of functional, aesthetically pleasing, and representative Islamic boarding school auditorium facilities.
